I used to have automatic updates download and notify me when they were available. That all stopped while I had the Plex DVR beta installed when there was an update that didn’t have the DVR Beta.
I have since turned back on “Automatically download updates” on my server settings, but I don’t get automatic downloads or notifications that an update is available anymore on my admin account. Is there a way to re-enable this notification?
PMS Version 1.5.1.3520 (I manually checked for & installed the update yesterday when I posted this)
I used to get the yellow bar at top telling me the update was available to install. But it stopped when I ran the DVR Beta, which then notified me that an update was available. I downgraded back to a DVR Beta copy. Haven’t gotten the yellow bar telling me to update ever since.
It’s my understanding that the DVR Beta rolled into the main path of Plex Pass releases. The first time I got the notice with the Beta, it uninstalled DVR.
Since they rolled into the main path recently, I’ve been able to do the “check updates” and download the updates since they rolled into the main path. I just don’t get the notification that it’s ready.
I guess I’m a little confused. When you said DVR Beta I thought you meant the 1.2.0 DVR versions. Can you say exactly which version number of PMS you were running that did not give you the update message?
I’m not sure what to say. It should be working. If you would like to investigate, you’ll need to roll-back to 1.5.1. Then after launching it, do nothinig for 3 mintues, turn on Plex Web, make sure there is no notification for the update, then navigate to Settings \ Server \ General, but do not click on anything else. Then navigate to Help and get me the logs.
I don’t get notifications on app.plex.tv (currently running 1.5.1 without a notification), but I think I get them when connecting directly to localhost. I’ll have to check when I get back home.
I’ll try changing my bookmark to localhost. I previously had app.plex.tv bookmarked so I could use the same bookmark regardless if I was on my server or my laptop. But I gave my laptop to my daughter recently, so I’m good with sticking with localhost now.

That shouldn’t matter. I’ve updated my serve remotely going through app.plex.tv and do get the notifications. The only thing I can think is you are not using your admin account. But since you can manually check, this probably isn’t it.
I got notified with this last update from 1.5.2.3557 to 1.5.3.3580. I used localhost first, but then the same notification was there with the app.plex.tv side. But then again, I wasn’t on the update the same exact day as it was released this time. I was away for a few days except for streaming through Sync to my mobile.
I am usually using my admin account when I’m on the server to add more media.
shrug … it’s working now. Maybe I’m just trying too soon. With no exact answer for the fix, I picked the best thing to try as the answered response.
