I want to have a “smart/auto”music playlist in Plex based on a specific folder to have access via Plexamp on my phone. The content of this folder changes constantly based on my choices. My complete library is on my NAS running Plex Server, but i have a special folder, where i copy and delete tracks all the time. Or can this create library conflicts, because the tracks are existing twice in the library?
Copying tracks into a folder for creating a playlist is what one would have done 20 years ago, when we had super-basic mp3players.
Why don’t you use playlists, or genre, or one of the automatic play queue generators in Plexamp?
Thanks for pointing me to this feature. Unfortunately it doesn’t offer the filter options i need. Without a folder filter it won’t work.
The only feasible option seems to create a playlist and just dump all wanted albums/tracks into it. This playlist i can then play through Plexamp when travelling.
Why don’t you create a collection instead of adding/removing files from a folder? You can treat the collection exactly the same as you treat your folder (only you won’t be actually moving/copying files), adding and removing items as wanted. Then you just point the playlist at the collection.
Through “Collections” i found “Smart playlists” and these can actually be filtered by folder source. I can use both options to be honest. Thank you!
