I’m having difficulty maintaining Remote Access with Plex.
I believe that it is the Avast Anti-Tracking program I utilize. Whenever I first fire up the computer and connect to my Plex Account Dashboard I get the Red Icon next to Remote Access. I temporarily disable the Anti-Tracking and it is able to reconnect. After that, I’m able to reenable the Anti-Tracking software and it works. But it appears to be intermitted.
What would I need to enter into the Anti-Tracking program as an “allowed website” to prevent the program from fighting me so much?
I’ve never used Avast so not sure if it has it but I would see if it has logs of the URLs is it blocking.
I would at least allow plex.direct and plex.tv
No luck there. I added plex.direct and plex.tv to the exemptions tab in the anti-tracker but now luck.
The reason I believe that it is specifically Avast!'s Anti-Track Program is because whenever I force stop it and reload/reapply the manual port it is able to connect to the “public” IP and onward to the internet. Afterwards, if I reactivate it I lose remote access.
What I’m getting under the remote access tab is:
Not available outside your network
Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network. Learn moreDISABLE REMOTE ACCESS
You currently have Remote Access enabled through a manually-specified port. If you wish to disable Remote Access, you will need to remove your manual port forwarding from your router.###
Update:
I tried again to gain remote access but attempted to utilize the automatic way. No dice with or without the Anti-Tracker up and running.
I then reattempted to gain remote access via the manual way. THIS time that didn’t work either. So I’m going to go ahead and assume it is not the anti-tracker messing with it anymore.
I’ll call my provider and see if they can help me with the router. It may be something in the troubleshooting guide after all.
