If you set them up with an account on Gravatars you can do this already. Just searched for avatars to find that…
Now if you have them set up with a managed user account, that’s where it gets harder. They would need an email address to get a gravatar account.
Putting my effort on this issue as well from previous posts:
I have created some local users through my plex pass account. I have not been able to change or edit photo picture ID from these manage users. The reason I am interested to do this is because I have little ones that cant read letters yet and they are having a hard time to click which account is theirs. If you dont have this implemented, please do so. This will help a lot for the young plex users to be able to navigate better from the Interface
Thanks,
As a workaround just create plex account for each of them, then you can set custom avatars for each through plex web.
+1 I don’t want to force family to use their emails, managing this internally would be a nice feature
I see new comments, but no more votes. Is everyone familiar with how Plex handles voting?

I think I got it about voting.
Thanks,
I like this idea and would also like to suggest that the images be handled inside the Plex server not from an external site.

Liked the first post… Plex Home for parental control management has been around for almost 2 years, and I’m surprised that they’ve taken this long to add it.
Kids want avatars, indeed! Parents, too.
this would be great
I’ve got my Simpsons pics at the ready once this is implemented…
I hope this feature will be released soon…
I want this too
I am very surprised that I cannot change the picture of an added user.
If we are really stuck with gravatar only, having the ability to set email address on managed account could make a viable workaround by using email username suffixes. Most email providers (even GMail) allow some kind of username-suffix@email or username+suffix@email, which could be mapped to gravatars.

Actually – Managed Users have the issue. Regular Plex users should now be able to upload an avatar at plex.tv website on their account profile – no tie in to gravatar required anymore.
Problem for Managed Users - they don’t have an email to tie to gravatar … nor do they have a plex.tv account to upload an avatar as part of their profile (as they don’t have one).
This feature should have always been a thing. How can they make a profile system like this, and miss this glaring and obvious feature, what an oversight. May I add that as far as I can tell there is no way to remove the avatar once you have uploaded the picture, this is important because I uploaded a picture from the plex web ui and when I realized that the kids could not have one I wanted to take it down before they found out.
Just please either give me the option to remove my profile picture or give my kids the option to have one of there own
I hope this will be fixed soon!
Just purchased a life-time pass and so disappointed with this issue; home user with profile picture was the most appealing reason for the purchase!!
