Yesterday i set up a new Plex client for my 6 year old son.
Only a Raspberry Pie 3 with RasPlex for use without a monitor or similar. This device is made only for music and audiobooks, controlled by an android tablet.
I created a new managed account only for audiofiles and wanted to change the user picture to a rotating CD, because my son can’t read. But i can’t find a option to change the avatar.
So he must look for the blue color and the capital letters CD. It is not a problem for him, but i think a new avatar-picture is much better.

Yeah, I tend to agree…the Gravatar’s solution is not great… .much rather have local control and not have it dependent on another outside source…
but definitely each managed user should have their own “avatar”, icon, picture etc…
I dont like to be forced to use gravatar - and I dont like to force (grownup, not sooo internet-active) children & family to do so.
I’d like to have avatars instead of this boring letters that tend to be multiple in our family.
While there still is no support for avatars for managed users, Plex introduced its own avatar page in June of last year. Gravatar is no longer necessary.
Agreed. Really need this feature for Managed Users.

Just became a Plex Pass member because it would be easy to identify users. Sad to see only a bunch of letters show up.
Wouldn’t be that hard, even if no email address, it might be stored in the Plex database as user:mainplexaccount@email.com:(uid-for-2/3/4th-users) and allow to upload an image.
Please fix this. The whole Plex interface looks great, except for an old-fashioned login page.
I would like to request this feature as well. I assuming the profile picture is stored at plex and that is why only plex accounts can have a profile picture and not local managed user accounts. Is there a timeline for this feature request to be implemented?

Plex doesn’t announce timelines for pretty much any feature. They might hint at ideas here and there, but no promises on delivery.

Avatars shouldn’t come from an external solution like gravatars, it should be built into the Plex system.
I’m also in favor of adding pictures for managed users within my plex server. I also have little ones at home who cannot read yet. So if they just had to click on a picture of themselves that would work out 100% better than having to click on a big letter picture.

I don’t understand why this would be so difficult to implement. My 7 year old daughter (who does not have a Plex account) has specifically requested that I ask the “Plex People” about this.
To all, this appears to work now (at least for me)… or at least as of 1.5 …
log into the managed user in question… select the profiles drop down (users icon/top right corner) then select account… should see an “edit” next to the photo… of which you can select a photo, resize and crop accordingly…
switch user and change the rest if the remaining users as needed…
Sure enough, it was added with Plex Web 3.4. I hadn’t noticed.
Never mind. Apparently it was added according to the previous comment. Thank you I was able to find it.
