AVI files not recognised in folder view

Server Version#: Version 4.53.0
As the title says, first time ever I am encountering that PMS is not recognising some AVI files, even in the folder view they are not visible.
How can I go about fixing this?
Thanks

When you say they’re not showing up in folder view… do you mean they show up elsewhere?
Otherwise, general troubleshooting for files not being recognized is to double-check your folder structure / file naming vs. media type of that library.

Hey Tom , thanks
Sorry for the ambiguity.
They’re not showing up anywhere within the Plex environment , not even the folder view.

Filenames seemed fine to me , tinkered a bit with one specific filename to no avail.

I’m not on the server at the moment so cannot 100% verify re: filenames, was wondering whether there could be anything else I was not covering.
Could it be the AVI being encoded in some very exotic codec?
Thanks

In that case it should still be added to the library.
Plex will even scan/add a text file if you name it e.g. Dune (2021).mkv – it won’t play in that case though. In anyway… your avi should add fine unless it’s e.g. following the tv-show naming when added to a movie library etc.

Thank you for pointing that out, I didn’t know that Plex will import anything as long as the naming convention is right! That made me persevere in my mission!

Turns out Plex didn’t like the fact that the file(s) was named EPx, as opposed to EPxx as suggested.
Actually it seems like Plex can digest just fine a file named with SxExx, as opposed to the recommended SxxExx!

Stick to SxxExx at all times.
(Unless there are 4-digit season numbers in one particular show. Or there is a season with episode numbers going up to 3 digits.)
