Back 10 seconds = Jump ahead many minues on Nvidia Shield

This is an issue that I’ve seen opened many times over the years but never with a solution. I’ve got a very reproducible case playing on my Nvidia Shield from a Windows 10 server.

For a while now we’ve had issues where pressing back (back 10 seconds) freezes the video and then jumps ahead many minutes. Now we have a very reproducible case:

  • Start playing a movie (but not all movies). However, The Mitchells vs. The Machines is very reproducible.
  • Let it queue up and get playing (I let it play for about 2 minutes) and press the back (back 10 seconds) button.

Expected: Video goes back 10 seconds, as it would in the VLC player.

Actual: Video jumps ahead many minutes (almost 10 minutes in the attached log) and freezes. You need to kill the service and restart the player to play the video again.
