Badly detected episodes merged together

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252

I have in my library The Rachel Maddow Show which episodes are based on date instead of episode number. However my library scanner sorts some episodes - not all - badly and I can’t figure out how or why this happens sometimes. I have renamed these files over and over again - in multiple formats, even just with date format -, I’ve separated them by folders and everything, but nothing fixes this issue.

Below is a screenshot for example:

I haven’t found yet an option to unmerge these episodes.
Thanks

Might I suggest renaming the series and episodes per naming standard?

As I look at them, it’s tough for me to figure out what the identification is.
The automaton isn’t going to do any better.

I would suggest a tool like FileBot or TheRenamer to put the names per standard.

Like I mentioned in the post, I already did every suggestion for naming episodes

Following - having exact same issue with different show. File names are already different.

The names you are showing are not how they should be.

What might have worked in the past is luck.

Please consider the documented format

https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/

/TV Shows/ShowName/Season 02/ShowName – 15-11-2011 – Optional_Info.ext

Spaces between name elements are encouraged. A “mash” of characters is always harder to parse.

Thank you.

Basically, that was it.

In the past date based episodes would match TVDB or at least worked fine. The naming documentation in Plex mentions it (date based episodes - https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/). And I used that format for many years.

I’m just glad I got it to work.

FYI, Filebot requires a paid license.
