Bandcamp FLAC files not being recognized

Haven’t been able to find anyone with a similar issue.

At some point (at least a year ago), Plex refused to recognize new flac files from bandcamp at all- they don’t show up in the browser, not just metadata missing but it’s like they don’t exist. I’ve done a lot of troubleshooting, re-scanning the files, etc. and haven’t had any luck figuring this out on my own.

I’ve ripped CDs myself and they turn up fine. I’m wondering if maybe Bandcamp is using some settings for their files that plex is unable to recognize? Haven’t had any issues with the files otherwise, just in plex and just for FLAC albums from bandcamp.

Any ideas?

AFAIR, Bandcamp doesn’t tag their files at all.
So you’d need to insert the basic tags yourself.

With rather obscure artists, it is probably best to enable “prefer local meta tags” in the library’s properties.

Thanks for the pointers, I had gone through all that and double checked to be sure.

While trying to take a screenshot to show my setup I noticed the file permissions on the directories it wasn’t adding were incorrect - I fixed those and now my media is adding correctly. Not sure what happened there but for some reason I just never checked that.
