I’m sorry if this is not the appropriate forum for this, but I didn’t really see a better one.
These are not Plex questions as much as general maintenance ones. From time to time, I might go to add new versions of videos to replace older ones on the server that were in lower quality, larger file size, etc. When this happens, I have to rename the new files to match the old ones, not only for matching, but also so that Plex doesn’t view them as new videos if I have already watched them previously. The way that I am doing this right now is to have two windows open in 10 and just manually copying and pasting the names of files one by one. For a single season, this is fine enough, but if I go to re-add an entire show, this is a tedious process. I know of the Bulk Renaming Utility for setting files up to have a certain format short of the individual episode names, but to my knowledge, that can’t pull data from one set of files and apply it to another. Does such a program exist where you can set source and targets for batch renaming?
On a related note, does anyone know of a way to pull episode names from TheTVDB or something similar and applying them to files in a similar manner so that you don’t have to manually type out all of the episode names in the first place?
Thank you in advance.
