Battlestar Galactica 2003 Naming Convention

Hi

Please can someone help me setup my Battlestar Galactica 2003 onwards Seasons.

So far I have put down:

Battlestar Galactica (2003).S00E01.Miniseries.mkv

Battlestar Galactica (2003).S00E02.Miniseries.mkv

and then....

Battlestar Galactica (2003).S01E01.33.mkv

Battlestar Galactica (2003).S01E02.Water.mkv

Battlestar Galactica (2003).S01E03.Bastille.Day.mkv

etc...

but Plex always shows the old Battlestar Galactica season and details.

What am I doing wrong ?

A thousand thanks

are you doing the plex dance after renaming?  See my sig block.  I have mine at Battlestar Galactica (2003) for folder name.  And then Battlestar Galactica (2003).S01E01.33.mkv etc

What is your folder name? Do you have: Battlestar Galactica -> Battlestar Galactica (2003).S01E01.33.mkv

This will pick up the old version since it looks at the folder for the Series name, you want that to be Battlestar Galactica (2003) as well.

Arrhmmmm........Season folders seems to be missing here, or?

@ OP: Look in my signature for the naming guide....

But should be something like:

Battlestar Galactica (2003)                                                                                               <--------------- Top folder in TV Section

Season 00                                                                                                              <--------------- Season folder (Season 00 is also known as Specials)

Battlestar Galactica (2003).S00E01.Miniseries.mkv                                     <--------------- Actual Media

Season 01

Battlestar Galactica (2003).S01E01.33.mkv

I'm using....

{share}\TV Shows\Battlestar Galactica (2003)\Season {xx}\Battlestar Galactica - s{xx}e{xx}.avi

No issues at all.

You don’t have to have Season folders.

Battlestar.Galactica.2003.S01E01.mp4 etc, works fine.

Battlestar.Galactica.2003.S01E01.mp4 etc, works fine.

Well....It might work, it might not work....The guide says otherwise, and if going your way, it might break at a later point.....

Thus why I follow the guide, and NEVER  have any probs!

Hello again, it does work, been running all my TV show seasons in one folder for each show for over 3 years without any problem, but you follow the guide if that's what you prefer.

Why would I bother replying to the topic if it didn't work?

Why do you never accept that your way is not the only way?

In fact why do you feel you have to respond with anything?

You are missing the point here, IMHO....

You are using a naming convention that is not following the guide, so if the devs in the future makes a change, and cut's out your way, you'll be lost.

As such, I can only recommend to follow the guide, cuz if devs at some points breaks following the guide, they will fix it....if they break your way, then no idea

I refrain to comment on above !

Ned, I think the problem here is that you assume that just because it works that it's a method that is ok to suggest, as plex ninjas we always go with what's tried and true and known to work, if we pointed users to do things that were outside the realms of approved plex support it wouldn't be smart.  That said, your method may work and may work just well for you and I'm glad it does, however in this case we will and will always continue to point users to a known working method.

Hi Guys

You have all been really helpful and a thousand thanks for all your advice.

Changing the master folder name to "Battlestar Galactica 2003" seem to do the trick and all is looking much better now.

Again I appreciate the help.

Thanks

For future reference head over to thetvdb.org and look for your show and it will show the way it's labeled and that's what you should label your master folder for the show as, like The Office (UK) or The Office (US).

I accept that you have to toe the Plex Inc line, if you didn't they'd take away your much 'coveted' 'Ninja' status!

That's nonsense. If there's a better way to do things, we're all ears.

It seems you must use season folders within BattleStar Galactica (2003) for the Season 0 episodes to be picked up. I am gradually going through my extensive tv episode collection, and grouping within season folders. It hadn’t really been an issue, until I couldn’t find Razor, and Redemption in Plex.

click on the options of the tv show and choose fixmatch, Then when the list comes up, just choose the 2003 series
