BBC iplayer for Rasplex

Hi All,

I have a Plex Media server set up and Plex Clients running on a number of devices; PC, ipad, iphone, Raspberry Pi and Raspberry Pi2

The channels work correctly on all of the clients I have except the Raspberry PI's both running RasPlex

(which is why I have posted this in the RasPlex forum rather than Channels forum)

It is BBC iplayer that is failing on the Pi's and I really want to get working.

(also CNN channel fails but Revision 3 channel works on the Pi's fine)

BBC iplayer loads all the pretty metadata (this is what makes RasPlex good for tellies) with no isssues but when you try to play (stream) it fails with media not found.

I can then use my ipad plex app or plex via ipad google to navigate to the same program on iplayer and then play successfully.

I have exactly the same issue on an old raspberry Pi and new Pi2 both running RasPlex.

Is latest iplayer known to be working on RasPlex versions below as of today? (I am presuming "yes" but BBC is known to break things and make(IMHO) unwise decisions :-) from time to time!)

I have downloaded/uninstalled/reinstalled the channels on PMS several times and reset bundles (services, framework etc)

I have latest official iplayer on my PM

iplayer seems to work very well on other clients but not at all on Rasplex.

PMS at 0.9.11.7.803-87d0708 - fresh install this weekend (insteady of an update) - wired fixed IP Ethernet to router

PI2 running 0.5.1 - reinstalled this weekend - wired Ethernet and accessing libraries very fast

Pi B+ running 0.4.1 (haven't bothered upgrading that yet!)- wireless access to libraries good enough

I believe I am hunting a rasplex problem/step I have missed rather than any PMS issue but happy to listen to those who know better!

So far RasPlex has been as simple as falling of a log...until iplayer!

I hope to hear from iplayer/Rasplex experts soon.

Rob.

BBC iPlayer channel is working OK for me, what does it say in the Rasplex logs when you start to play a show, I assume you get as far as the pre-play screen.

Regards

This is from my old Pi, just learnt how to use putty for the first time :-) five mins ago.

what does it say in the Rasplex logs when you start to play a show --> http://pastebin.com/gxfVtrU3

I have no idea how to interpret this I just I see a lot of errors...

Iplayer started to play the film "Red tails" but failed when I starts a random bbc 4 program city of the ancients.

Hopefully this might give a good clue as to why not working.

I assume you get as far as the pre-play screen -->

Yes, I get all the metadata text and pictures, hit the play, it buffers up and then fails....in red; "unable to play media" and then "playback failed"

Red Tails is the first sign of life from iplayer.

I will see if I can get a log from Pi2.

Log from my Pi2. Managed to start to play a couple of titles (blocky in SD and not HD but lets not be fussy yet!)

13:02:24 T:1513092192   ERROR: OpenDemuxStream - Error creating demuxer <--- seems to be the crucial line in the logs. Am I right?

What's the analysis?

I am trying to figure out if my BBC iplayer issues are a user setup problem or if BBC have changed stream type and Rasplex/PMS simply are unable to play iplayer any more.

I tried forced transcoding but no joy (this was a fresh PMS, RasPlex and channels have been uninstalled and reinstalled)

Other suggestions please?

I had given up on this and BBC iPlayer seems to have fixed itself.

No idea how or why.......just left it alone, maybe some windows updates on the media server but that's it.
