I was hoping to get some help. I am a long time user of Plex but I only just started using Ras pie.
Everything is great get the device to pick up content from the server and its faster than I thought as well but suddenly
none of my channels are working eg Spodify, Crackle, apple trailers and so on. ( just to confirm though both my Movie and TV Local stuff is still working perfectly ).
When I say they are not working I mean they load up the content fills in such as playlists from spodify. but if I go to play a track I get
"Playback Failed one or more items failed to play check the log file for details"
This is across all of the channels now and before anyone asked I have no Idea how to check the log file on a rasplex R pie.
If anyone has Ideas please let me know.
Im running my Plex server on a 2.7Ghz intel Core i7 Mac (10.8.4)
I am seeing this message when trying to play any video file.
I had no problems until upgrading my RasPlex to 0.2.2 and my server to 0.9.8.6 but with those updates came the issue. The first symptom was of TV Series music not playing in the menu but then I would get the "Please wait" box appear when trying to play a video file and then the screen would go blank. After recovery - pressing Stop and then a loooong wait - no other file would play and eventually - after a few seconds - give the "Playback failed ..." message as above.
I updated my server to the latest public version and my Pi to RasPlex 0.3.1 (fresh install) hoping that this would solve the issue but no joy. Everything was fine for a little while but then the problem returned.
My setup is as my signature and I attach my logfile - the errors from playback failure appear near the bottom it looks like (it's a bit like reading the Matrix in code to me).
Any help greatly appreciated, this is driving me nuts!
i am also getting this message, it plays all tv shows and music perfectly but when i try to play most of the movies it comes up with this playback failed and it is always on the same movies (which is almost all) but the movies that do play always play fine so i was checking all the films that it wasnt playing and seeing if there was a comon deniminator but it seems random. i also have plex on my smart tv and that plays everything fine so its just the rasplex. any help would be much appreciated
im sure mine plays some mkv's it seems random which ones it seems to play as i have a veriety of differnt file types and some of each type play and some dont. also on rare occations if i turn of the pi, reset the router and try again it seems to help sometimes.
iv run into this a number of times, i know plex can do transcoding somehow but i havnt figured it out, so i just use HandBrakeCLI and HandBrakeCLIBatch to massconvert into a m4v container, basically not loosing any quality, and always runs on rasplex. HandBrakeCLIBatch will go through multiple recursive directorys and place the new files where you ran it from.
