Dear Plex Users,
I am about to move to Quebec and am looking for the most flexible and user friendly with most reliable and adjustable server settings Internet Provider in Quebec. Sorry that was a mouthful. I am currently running mine in Denmark and the internet there is stellar, fast, reliable and highly user customizable.
Having looked around a bit what is available in Quebec, it worries me a bit since I don’t see many reporting good experiences, so in case I missed something, or just asking someone out there who knows a thing or two about the local internet infrastructure and how to run a Plex server off of a Mac, stable and without issues, please inform me.
I would highly appreciate any and all info on how to run a successful Plex server in Quebec, which internet provider to choose and what to look out for and be cautious about.
Thank you

Former resident from elsewhere in Canada. Fiber is very common in most cities, and that should be what you strive for. Bell has service there (and that’s who I had in Winnipeg). Alternate is cable internet, but the upload speeds aren’t as good. Videotron looks to be the most common in Quebec.

Thank you for the reply, how much bc control did you have over your internet? Like changing channels and controlling the ports on your modem? My girlfriend in Quebec has bell and she can’t even change her channel do it won’t interfere with the buildings other signals. I host for my family my server and would love to keep doing that. Any suggestions on which provider is best in your opinion and set up? Once again thank you so much for the reply.
I just moved back from Quebec to Ontario, while I was in Quebec I was on Bell Fibe, most reliable service I’ve ever had. Was solid for the 5 years I was in Gatineau, now being in Ottawa I had to cancel and re-setup service since I changed provinces, still very happy with Bell Fibe - Rogers offerings suck around here, especially their cell service.
With Bell you have pretty much full control, port forwarding, DDNS (limited providers), DNS, etc.
