So I have been looking for the best Plex app for audio. I have been frustrated for a while that all started with the Amazon FireTV. The FireTV is the worst as Plex relies on its internal decoder, which is basically nothing. It cannot output any form of Dolby or DTS. The next thing I tried was Roku 3 and Roku Premiere+. Both of which output Dolby and DTS, but down convert HD formats. After the many issues I had with the Premiere+ (would not stream HDR due to handshake HDCP issues) I gave up and returned it. My next purchase to replace the Premiere+ was the Nvidia Shield. Finally something that works. The Plex app not only plays 4k movies, but will output both Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio. I played a test clip of Dolby Atmos, but my receiver only detected TrueHD. I am very happy that I found a device that will output HD audio without the need of using Kodi. I hope this helps anyone looking for a streaming box that supports Plex and HD audio.
