I have Plex installed on a Mac Mini and according to Plex the only TV Tuners I can use for Live TV with a Mac OS Server are SiliconDust HDHomeRun tuners. They come in 3 versions (Connect, Extend and Prime). Any advise on which of these will work best with Plex?
Pick the one that matches your current cable TV setup. Review the HDHomeRun website to see which one best suits your needs.
They all work equally well. It is just about the number of tuners you want to have. The more tuners, the more programs you can watch / record simultaneously. I personally have an extend, which has 4 tuners, does the trick nicely.
There are other cards supported as well nowadays, check the forums / release announcements. The beauty of the Silicondust devices is that they just connect to your network and don’t have to be plugged into an USB port. This can give you some freedom in a situation where your cable/sat connection is not close to your plex server.
