Hi. I am happily running Plex live tv / dvr from a mini PC with a hauppage dual tuner. I can’t use a quad tuner in this mini PC. So I was thinking of having a second mini PC with a second hauppage dual tuner. Would the Plex iOS app (and come to think of it apps on Samsung TVs) cope with this? Can I have one app showing two live tv options rather than just one tuner? So on the photo here, have a second tuner called “Emsworth 2” (for example)?
Is this SAT or terrestrial?
If it’s terrestrial: a tuner doesn’t have to be inside of a PC. There are plenty of USB-connected models available.
Or if you don’t want to deal with tuner device drivers anymore, get one of the 4-tuner HDhomerun devices from Silicondust. https://www.silicondust.com/
You can set up several tuners. As long as your selected EPG bouquet has all stations available in it, it doesn’t really matter how many tuners there are.
All tuners connected to one server will share one channel list.
Terrestrial. And yes, I know they can be external, as that is exactly what I have now. But it’s only a dual tuner, and I want to have up to four tuners. And as it’s a mini PC I can’t use the quad tuner card as it’s internal. Hence the idea of a second mini PC, but of course that makes it a second server, and I’m not sure how / if the Plex app would handle that?
Possibly I can have a second USB dual tuner in the existing mini PC, but it might be a squeeze physically, and I would need a splitter for the RF input. So I wanted to put a second mini PC in another room with its own RF input. But have it feeding into the same Plex app as if I now have a second live stream.
Honestly, go with a Silicondust tuner.
Should be able to add as many sources as you want. I have an amplifier/splitter running to two Silicondust tuners. It will just randomly choose a tuner to record from as long as that channel is enabled on that tuner.

You can add a second server that hosts another tuner on a completely different PC. You’ll be able to select between the two servers inside your Live TV menu. I do this. It works. Have fun.
