So far I have been unable to get Remote Access and Sharing to work on my setup so I am looking for an alternate way to share my library with others (just the titles/cover art/descriptions). I exported to trakt.tv but not only do I have to update my export from time to time there is no way (that I can find) to search my collection. A person can just view what I have in the order I added them to my Plex.
I am looking for suggestions of an easy way to share the titles/cover art/descriptions other than trakt.tv. I wondered about exporting to imdb but the instructions I found (export tools) were more than my technical ability and time would allow for (unless an easier way has been developed recently).
I wish I could get remote access to work but without paying for a dedicated isp I haven’t found a way (see topic How to set up remote access)
You guys are always such a help! Thanks in advance.
There are many of us who send titles/coverart/descriptions to our community either daily or weekly by using Tautulli (3rd Party). This app was developed to provide enhanced content reporting to Plex servers. It has a nice feature for sending newsletters of new content on a schedule basis. This keeps me from having to go export metadata on my own. It might work for you too.
Ok…I found that and it looks interesting. I assume the remote version won’t work for me since I can’t get Remote Access to work on my system? Also, are the newsletters interactive? For example could a person click on the movie/cover art and see a description? Or are they just pdf or something similar?
i just want someone to be able to search the titles and info. Maybe I need to export to a database some way? I don’t know much about doing that though.
At the main website is a preview of different features. In my case, I have only one newsletter that runs on a weekly schedule, but there are many who have built out push notifications, send emails, building webpages, the possibilities extend quite far. I do not believe this software needs the Internet to do its thing in most ways. I know the scheduled tasks still run with it. However, should you choose to use an external hosting location to store all the pictures for the newsletter, you would have to have the Internet available. You can also choose to store the pictures locally.
