Beta for the new Audio Player on the Android mobile

Many of us have reported this a few days ago, the developers are aware

Specific To Android Audio (I listen to PLEX mostly in the car on my Android), and apologies for any repeats of bugs.

After an update, the first time I start the player it has trouble connecting to the server. Shutting i down and restarting it, usually works fine.

Sweet Fades still not working past 2 or 3 songs

When turning off the car, unplugging the the phone, the songs still pays for a second or two

When re-plugging the phone in and starting the car, the playlist has lost its place and I have to manually go into the phone to hit the play / pause key to get it to start playing again

When first starting to play anything, the menu item in the Android Auto dashboard isn’t there. After the first song, it appears and I can access it to change to shuffle, etc

The player doesn’t remember my setting of shuffle in a playlist. I have to manually go into the player every time to select it, whereas it DOES remember the volume leveling and the sweet fades position.

Thanks

EB

Just replying here to let Sam know that I messaged him some logs from a shuffled playlist I ran this morning. Hope they help.

Has there any progress being made in fixing the “Offline-Browsing” mode? It still doesn’t work playing synced content. It simply stops after playback of first track. It does advance to the second track and the progress bar is moving but there is just silence. If this hasn’t been already reported I can provide logs if necessary.

There is a fix in the works but it wasn’t ready in time for this release. Hopefully soon.

Actually, I’ve not heard of this problem before. I would like logs of that error please.

Thanks for the logs @EricD1973, I’ll take a look.

The offline feature doesn’t work and after I sync a chunk of my music library now Plex decides to delete my offline music

That is troubling, can you please provide logs if this happens again? We have solved the issue with synced content not being preferred, it should be in beta soon. Same with the duplicate notifications.

Maybe we are thinking of different things. I was thinking it’s the issue with the “prefer synced content” not being obeyed so things were still being streamed.

I’m going to provide logs this weekend

I just noticed that despite having a remote streaming quality set that I am still direct playing my FLAC files.

@SamFromPlex The stuttering is getting pretty annoying ._. I have kill the app several times per commute
Is there any kind of fix in sight? I cant even opt out of beta to go back since you pushed the player into production and I really dont wanna install old apks manually

Just experienced a crash, when playing music and tpaping the notification of playing music, to return to the app. 8:25 plex-log-d2dyno.zip (2.0 MB)

@Fuechslein the last I heard you were testing whether disabling your third party audio modification modules had any impact on this issue.

Unfortunately it doesnt make a difference. I had it stutter on speakers, headphones and even over bluetooth with any combination of audio settings I can change or turn off :S

Heres a soundsample: https://streamable.com/5kr6c
As soon as app is loosing focus is stutters. When I pull the plex preview window to the right the music playback stops. Opening plex again leaves me with two notifications but non-stuttering sound.

@SamFromPlex just a heads up, @Fuechslein said he has HTC Boomsound, which I believe came pre-installed on his phone, and no way to remove it (except for a custom rom). I am also not sure if there is a true ‘disable’ function in Boomsound, at least when I had it on my HTC One M9.

But anyways, I am also really getting annoyed by this issue, as it still happens daily. I just force close the app everytime.

Have you tried just closing the app over the “recents” view? Does that also stop audio playback for you and cause double notification if you start plex again?

And yes, I cannot disable BoomSound when using speakers. When using headphones I can turn off USonic(Equalizer) and noise cancellation. When using bluetooth however, everything gets disabled. Still stutters though :frowning:

I’ve synced two albums to internal storage. Then I disabled wifi that I’m on cellular. Note that the issue is ONLY when on cellular, when on wifi evererything works flawlessly.

Client: Android 7.9.0.8439
Server: 1.14.1.5488

Steps:

  • switch to offline-browsing
  • Switched off wifi waited until cellular took over
  • Started shuffle for synced content
  • First song started to play without any issues (audio hearable)
  • Cecked playback options: direct play of FLAC from local device ← GOOD !!
  • Manually advanced progress-bar short before ending of song and waited for the next song to start
  • Next song started, progress was advancing but NO audio hearable
  • trying to manually advance progress results in snapping back to beginning.
  • Checked playback options: transcondig flac-opus from local device ← BAD !!
  • Same for next song

@SamFromPlex I DM logs

An Issue I still have with the non Beta version, is that even synced content gets streamed from the Server.

While in my case I have a flatrate, it s still suboptimal.

Also the button for offline Browsing, is it really necessary? Can t you do a check whetever server is available and just display what can be reached? ATM I have to check the button so I can reach offline content, if Server is down.

Is there still troubleshooting going on? Please don’t let it be half baked :frowning: For real enjoyment only stability matters
