Getting crashes when Chromecasting:

Ok, Chromecast actually appears completely unstable now. Cannot do anything without causing a crash it seems. Even just navigating the app while something is playing will crash it.

I’m not a chrome cast user but I’m in the same boat with android auto. It keeps getting worse and worse. My only complaint was podcasts taking over everything but since then, the randomizer button comes and goes when it pleases, granted I can get any music to play in the first place. Infinite buffering, track progress but no audio, recently added refuses to load anything at all.

We are aware of this issue and should be fixed in next beta. Thanks!

Hi! Sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems with the app. In order to help us identify it, would you mind describing the problem? Is it that podcast entry in Android Auto doesn’t load even after quite some time? About the “shuffle” (randomizer) button not being visible sometimes, we are aware of the issue and should be fixed soon. Would you mind describing a little bit more some of the buffering/loading/track progress issues? Thanks in advance!

Hi jesusmc whay about the ticket you open in Dec?
Can you open another one on the “recently added” folder that goes in infinite loop?
thank you

Hey @ussalin, in theory that issue should have been already solved. Are you still experiencing it? About the “infinite loop” one, could you explain it a little bit more? Thanks!

@jesusmc

in the end see also the “recently added” loop

Hey everybody,

I’ve been having a problem with the music transcoding which I had hoped the new player would solve, but to no avail.

Whatever remote streaming value I choose on my phone app, the music always gets transcoded to 128kbps. Any idea on how to get the value I actually choose?

Thanks!

Not related to the new player. The old player does this too.

Unlike video, that is not a playback quality setting. It’s actually a threshold value. Files above that value will transcode to 128 Kbps opus, unless you set it to 96, then it will transcode to 96.

So why am I given 192 and 320 options? Assuming I have a flac file I would like transcoded to 320 when played remotely how would I achieve this? Or even 192.

Like I said it’s a threshold. So if you set it to 320 and have a flac that is 340, it will transcode. If it is 300 it won’t transcode. It’s been discussed in another thread, but 128 kbps opus is a very high quality transcode and nearly indistinguishable from 192 or 320 opus so you wouldn’t gain anything by having your music transcoded to those, except using up more data.

So why is the new visualizer bar still broken? It was announced in today’s Plex newsletter.

Maybe we’ll be lucky and a beta will drop today =)

(Since it’s been 10 days since the last real beta)

Looks like a beta is coming very soon according to a plex thread about PiP support for Android.
They mentioned a rework of the video player to support a bunch of new features.

Thanks for the update, friendly Plex employee! /s

Glad to hear things aren’t just silent because nothing’s happening though

A quick test shows that the update this morning fixes the Android Auto randomizer button Houdini act on the phone app display. I’ll test the in car display later, but it looks promising.

Edit: works in the car too.

Thank you Plex team!
I’m anxiously awaiting the fix for android auto voice command issue.

As of the latest beta the album art does not refresh when the now playing window is minimized.

The album art of the first song in the playlist -

No matter how many song play or if skipping forward, the minimized album art doesn’t change.

The notification/toast displays correctly -

But the minimized player still doesn’t.
