Beta for the new Audio Player on the Android mobile

@abby_cc is the server on your LAN or is it remote?

the server is in my home, but it can be remote accessed

Any status on this?

@SamFromPlex is the team fixing the sync issue yet?

Client: 7.10.0.8875
Server: 1.14.1.5488

Playing locally synced content (FLAC) still doesn’t work reliably. It direct plays/streams from remote instead. Same scenario as I already reported multiple times:
Started playback of an synced album (FLAC) while on wifi. After going outside and cellular took over I’ve noticed Plex consuming up to 50 MB of my datacap. Playback info screen showed direct play of FLAC from remote NAS for first and transcoding from NAS on subsequent tracks. Although whole album is snyced. ā€œPrefer local contentā€ is enabled in options.
@SamFromPlex I DM logs

@SamFromPlex I was searching around for the sync issue I reported in this thread, and didn’t see it mentioned anywhere as you said. Can you link it?

To recap, the sync issue I reported:
Smart playlists filled with music, will sync songs NOT in the playlist, and then respectively NOT sync songs that ARE in the playlist.

@SamFromPlex I think I know how to reproduce the smart playlist sync issue:

  1. Create smart playlist with rating criteria (let’s say 4+ stars).
  2. Rate song(s) greater than 4 stars.
  • Music Home page does not show updated playlist item count.
  • Playlist page does not show updated playlist item count.
  1. Load playlist on the plex.tv/web interface (simply opening it on the web is enough).
  2. If syncing the playlist, go into the Android app and refresh sync manually.
  • Music Home page does not show updated playlist item count.
  • Playlist page shows updated playlist item count.

I am still not sure what triggers the ā€˜global’ music section widget to show the updated item count. The above only will refresh the playlist section count. More interestingly, both sections show different item count, so it seems like there is a stale cache somewhere:

@Daimyo it’s starting to sound like a server issue (PMS tells the clients what to sync and it sounds like that list isn’t being updated). Can you send some server logs right after it occurs again along with timestamps?

Cheers!

Hey All,

Running the Beta on my Galaxy Note 8 (Android Version 8) I am getting warnings from the phone telling me that Plex is using more than 10% of the CPU once every 24 hours (usually overnight). The thing is, if I go to the recent apps key (bottom left) that lists all the apps that are running in the background, Plex is not there. Plex doesn’t look like it is running.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and the warning is still happening. Does Plex player do something in the background even though I haven’t used the app? I have dropped into developer mode on the phone to look at running services and can’t see any sign of Plex.

Any ideas?

Syncing with the server, maybe?

Nope, no syncing, I stream everything.

I don’t sync anything either, but I still sometimes catch syncing progress notifications from Plex.

Just an update, I have uninstalled the Beta and the overload messaging went away. I will drop out of the Beta program and load up a release version and see what happens.

Any more word on this phone CPU overload?

Is the warning coming from the phone or is it a monitoring app you have installed. There was one monitoring app (can’t remember the name right now) that would give false readings about Plex.

No this seems to be the phone system telling me this. I’m not running any third party monitoring apps.

This doesn’t sound specifically related to the Music player, it might be better to create a new forum post in future. We are investigating some issues where the app is running in the background unexpectedly and consuming excessive battery.

Okay, I shall start another post in the Android forums.
