You don’t have to touch the scanner. It will be picked automatically when changing the agent.
G:\Video\TV Shows\The Late Show with Stephen Colbert\stephen.colbert.2021.03.08.nicolle.wallace.mkv
The series is matched but the episode metadata won’t download. It was working on the old agent.
So have given this a whirl and can see in shows that have been scanned by the new agent their episode rating is listed as NaN%.
I had a look and can see that the library episode rating is listed as TVDB so changed it to Movie Database but as it is still in mid metadata refresh I guess that won’t take effect until I refresh again?
OK thanks. I wasn’t sure if I changed something so I’ve deleted my test library and re-added it again. All good now!
That’s a very new episode so depending on when the data gets added it could lag by a day or two. I’ve found TVDB is much more up to date with daily shows so make sure you’re using that ordering for these shows.
What client are you using? That would happen on old versions of the web client but should now show the appropriate logos. Make sure you’re using the updated web build, best is to use the hoster one at http://app.plex.tv/web
So when the new movie agent came out, it was possible to enable it and NOT have it do a full metadata refresh on items already present in the library, you could do that by simply switching the agent and not using the conext menu “Upgrade matching”
It seems with the new TV agent, thats not a thing - If you switch agent, it forces a full metadata refresh - Is that intended? And can it be circumvented, so the agent can be used only for newly added items?
No it won’t unless the files had changed before you changed the agent (that weren’t yet picked up with the old agent) and that would only affect show folders that had changed.
It should just do a scan for new items when saving.
Hmm okay, perhaps im being a little quick on the trigger here - Its been running for a while and seems to be updating metadata for shows i dont recall were added or updated today, ill leave it for a little bit and see if it stops
It shouldn’t be changing metadata for existing shows unless it detected that the show folder had changed since the last scan. Do you possibly have some loose episodes in the root of the library?
I dont, but it seems you were right - It looks like it stopped updating metadata now, so it must have been some shows that were recently changed.
Its been running for maybe 30-45 minutes, it was quite slow but perhaps the recent launch of the new agent is causing some serious load on your API :).
Thank you for your quick response!
I created a new library to try out this new scanner. Aimed it at a folder of TV shows. What I’m getting is 99% of all shows grouped under the first show it grabbed, which in this case was Dickenson.

This series only has two seasons and 20 episodes. If ou open it up you get:
Looking at one episode shows you that all the S01E01 of muiltiple tv series are all being listed as duplicates of the S01E01 of Dickenson.
Same thing happened when I aimed it at a folder of animated shows. Ended up with over 300 episodes of Adventure Time.
Server is Windows 10. If I’m doing something wrong, I would would to know. Glad I didn’t try to convert an existing library.
Ah yes you are right, I was using the local host address. If I use plex.tv it does indeed show a nice new graphic for the rating.
This would happen if you aimed it at “TV Shows”, you need to aim it at “TV series”.
So the last folder, before the actual show folders.
Can you show an image of the folder paths added to your tv library?
I had hoped they’d fix this problem before the public release, but look earlier in this thread for The Murders. It appears to happen with that series, too.
That is just the name of the directory holding the TV Series. The existing TV Series library works fine. Guessing the bug mentioned earlier is still there.
You’re likely pointing to the wrong location. Can you show which folders are added in Library → Add Folders.
The issue with things matching to “The Murders” should be resolved.
Maybe I’m blind but are ID in curly brackets allowed with the new TV Series Scanner?
will this work?:
/Media/Shows/Beavis and Butt-Head {ID75863}/Season 01/Beavis and Butt-Head - S01E01 - Door-To-Door (1993) [720p]
Curly brackets yes, but not that format.
Something like one of these:
{imdb-tt1234456} for IMDb
{tvdb-123456} for TheTVDB
{tmdb-12345} for The Movie Database
