I am using TVDB for ordering and the metadata for this episode is present on the tvdb website. Could there be a cache lag with the new agent? I didn’t have this problem last week, adding episodes with the same cadence using the old TVDB agent.

So I have managed to get trailers working at a episode level and when you said it only works on iOS and Android Mobile I didn’t realise it wouldn’t show on the web client at all (although works on the Android TV client too).
Is it possible to have a season level trailer? Just looking at my TNG specials I have some promos that are for the series as a whole so don’t sit with any particular episode.
Yes, there can be a slight lag when the episode metadata is very new on TVDB. PMS will run a refresh every night (or whenever you have your scheduled tasks set for) for new items so it’ll automatically pick up the metadata when it’s available without you having to do anything.
Season extras only work on iOS and Android mobile clients now.
So how would I add a trailer for season 1? As the episode ones require them to be names as the episode, what would I name one for a whole season?

In the season folder you can have separate folders or individual files with any name you want displayed for the title with the correct suffix.
Unfortunately it didn’t work.

I’ve already tried the Plex Dance but no luck!
This nightly refresh, is that the scheduled task “Refresh library metadata periodically”? Or do you have some “hidden” refresh that only effects recently added media, to prevent a full metadata refresh every night?
That looks right and yes you’re correct to do a Plex Dance as we won’t try to rematch things once they’re scanned in.
What is it matching to? Or is it not matching at all?
This option needs to be selected:
It won’t refresh everything, only seasons that contain episodes that are less than a week old and things that haven’t been refreshed in the past month that are missing some metadata fields (like thumbnails or summaries). It will also only refresh the season and not the entire show.
We’re going to tweak this more once we fully understand what is most effective.

It doesn’t match at all! 
It only shows the screen for unmatched files:
I have to select “match” and click on the automatically shown first (correct) hit. After this it grabs the poster, metadata and so on.
Is this just for this show or others too?
Could you send me your logs (Settings → Troubleshooting → Download Logs).
I’ve tried it with this tv show and there it worked.

I cannot find any scans for the new TV agent at all in those logs. Are you sure you’re scanning the correct library?
Set it up just like the other animated TV library I have using the old scanner.
Could you send me logs, never seen this before but there must be some explanation.

Try removing this library and try again ensuring it’s pointing to Z:\TV Shows\Animated, maybe when creating the library intitially that got missed.
Edit: Got it to work, found the refresh button for a whole season. This is perfect, its going to be a busy old week renaming files
Just out of interest I had a look in the Kodi Plex addon and it displays all the season level trailers in a row under the episodes. That was unexpected and it plays them back despite not being able to play back a single show on movie in kodi 19 lol.
The Android TV client behaves very glitchy once you start to add extras, I know it is not supported but doing this makes the season it self refresh a lot on the TV and makes scrolling awkward and some things are repeated several times. let me know if you want me to make a video demo this.
