[BETA] New Plex TV Series Scanner

I hope so!
I’ve removed the library and re-added it and still no match.
Here are some fresh logs:

Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-09_22-42-10.zip (6.1 MB)

Yeah, that was earlier. That directory is all the regular TV Series. It dumped a dozen shows into Dickenson. Except for a handful of special S00Exx shows from stuff like Columbo and Scrubs that it did put into their own shows. But everything else, all the regular season shows were all dumped into Dickenson as duplicate files.

So I deleted and went to Z:\TV Shows\Animated\ and it dumped everything into Adventure time.

Is there a way to name the two V miniseries and the Tom and Jerry and Three Stooges theatrical shorts that would work right when using The Movie Database ordering or would we be better off editing them to use TheTVDB ordering which currently works well for those?

@drzoidberg33 and gang Is there a method to the madness on how series posters are picked? Right now after a refresh with the new agent, I got a bunch of season posters picked for the series. Going to the TMDB and TvDB websites had appropriate series posters upfront on the series page, so not sure how these others are getting picked, and it would be a shame to have to reset everything manually… Thanks.

Not bad, but pretty lacking in non-english content, stuff that exists on either tvdb or tmdb

Edit: Where is it even getting the “Studio” field from? Seems pretty wrong at times.

I have been adding some extras to the X-Files and I have come across and oddity, the Pilot has two deleted scenes so I have named them as such:

The X-Files - S01E01 - Pilot-deleted1
The X-Files - S01E01 - Pilot-deleted2

In my Android mobile client it actually displays deleted2 first and then deleted1, is there something that I need to do in order for them to be in the right order?

Edit:

Similar thing has happed with The Lone Gunmen, in this case the DVD comes with 4 TV spots that don’t correspond to any any episodes so I made a Trailers folder, they display at the show level but appear in the wrong order, or rather they are not using the 01, 02 at the end to do the ordering.

The Lone Gunmen
/Trailers
The Lone Gunmen - TV Spot #01
The Lone Gunmen - TV Spot #02
The Lone Gunmen - TV Spot #03
The Lone Gunmen - TV Spot #04

The order in the display on the Android mobile client seems to be 1, 4, 2, 3

i deleted the whole library and readded the custom themes and even got new ones and still nothing works Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-09_17-35-13.zip (8.1 MB) those are the newest logs any idea on what i can do next? thank you!

so i tried it on a new tv series and still nothing im a little tired so ill try more steps tomorrow Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-09_18-28-01.zip (7.8 MB) new show should be Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers

That’s a known issue for all extras (same for movie extras). You’ll see the same issue on all clients. Those only show the extra as they’re provided by the server and the server isn’t sorting them to start with.

Can you add an IMDB grade source?
Plex movies can use IMDB ratings, but not Plex TV series. IMDB provides much higher reliability and samples than TMDB.

I’m having trouble with the new metadata agent. I cannot refresh an item anymore.

Already tried the Plex Dance, even waited for a day to let the cache go away, but nothing seems to work. I always end up with the same metadata in the wrong language, Spanish, while I actually am matching it to English.

Also tried to match it to specific TVDB, TMDB of IMDB id’s, but it just keeps showing the same Spanish metadata.

Show is called “La Reina del Sur”, I attached the logs. If more info is needed, let me know.

plexmediaserver.log (26.7 KB)

The logs you sent don’t show the new library you created, only the one pointing to the wrong location (Z:\TV Shows).

You’ll have to send me logs from after creating the new library with the correct location.

I’m sorry, there isn’t any library in these logs using the new agent.

To create a library using the new agent:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Click on the Libraries option in the side bar (near the bottom)
  3. Click on Add Library.
  4. Select TV Shows.
  5. Give it a name and click Next.
  6. Click Browse for Media Folder, and select the path to your TV shows (the show folder must live directly inside this folder).
  7. Click “Advanced”.
  8. Select the Agent dropdown menu and choose “Plex TV Series (BETA)”. Do not touch the Scanner option.
  9. You can now tweak any settings (e.g. episode ordering) and click Add Library.

For V, TMDB has it under Season 1 for this show: V (TV Series 1983-1983) - Seasons — The Movie Database (TMDb)

On TVDB it’s under Special (season 0) for this show: V - TheTVDB.com

You just have to choose your poison.

I’m not sure about the other shows, but just go look at these sites and chose which one suits you.

Some examples would be useful, i.e. what the show is and what posters you expect to see.

Some examples would be useful and what language you’re using.

Studio is now using the first actual production studio. See my comment here: [BETA] New Plex TV Series Scanner - #9 by drzoidberg33

Thanks, I still don’t see it picking up any theme.mp3 file.

I’ll have to add more logging to see exactly what’s going on there on your side. I’ll ping you when I have something you can try.

Studio has always been a problem and I think there might be an old thread on it. Anyhow, both the movie and tv agent only supports one studio entry but many have multiple studios. Using Frasier as an example https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/3452-frasier/edit?active_nav_item=production_information we can see on TMDB it has three studio’s defined but plex only gets the first one returned from TMDB.

Will plex at some point in the future support multiple studio entries for both movies and shows ?

Yes but it’s a pain as we need to maintain support for the single field as well as multiple fields if we change it. It’s something that’s in my list of stuff to do.

Is it possible to add tags and/or collections to individual episodes?

I use collections to set e.g. “Ended”, “Continuing” on TV Shows.

Would be great if I could set e.g. " Subtitled original language" on individual episodes.

I mean, the Plex tagging system is prepared for everything. Still the GUI is missing corresponding entryfields.
