It’s definitely an issue with the new agent.
I created a test library and used the old agent, and it read the embedded tags in the mp4 just fine.

There is a strange thing.
When I add a TVshow into the NAS, I can see the show at first time in the plex server webpage normally.
And it will be a loading status when processing the metadata.
Before the process completed, I can see the poster of every season and ever episode.
But after that, the posters just gone, turn to a blank.
I just tried refresh the metadata, delete the show and add it again, those didn’t work at all.
below are the screenshots&logs
before process
How do I name this one to get the correct title
I have it named as the show and the same as is shown on tvdb
https://thetvdb.com/series/agatha-christies-poirot
But when it matches it just gets named as Poirot, which is not the correct name
It i the same with Agatha Christie’s Marple, correctly named and agrees with tvdb, but after matching it is just called Marple, which is not the correct name
“Poirot” is one of the official alternative titles. Is your tv-show library set to “English (UK)”?
The titles come from IMDB regardless of the ordering setting you use with the new agent. You will need to edit the title manually in plex itself. I had to do the same thing for the new DC show Superman & Lois.
EDIT: you might be able to use an alternative name if one exists as Tom says above.
Your network is failing to retrieve the images from the TVDB website, e.g. https://thetvdb.com/banners/series/387115/episodes/5f92b86550401.jpg
^ Can you access that URL?
Looks like a bug on our side, we have the show but none of the seasons. I’ll file an issue for it.
Thanks, yes, my library is set to use English UK
Surely as this is a UK show, the original title should be how it i named in the UK
This looks like a backwards step now if we are going to be using the US title instead of the correct title for the show (as used by the country of origin)
yeah, I konw about this banned situation of TVDB in my place Mainland China.
And actually the moviedatabase work normally.
So, have your consirdered add a fall-back strategy when TVDB is not aviable?
or use the original pics shows before processed.
IMDB does allow you to suggest edits and you can add regional variants.
If you have an IMDB account, log in and at the bottom of the page there is a “Edit page” button, there you can scroll down to “Alternate titles” and add one for a specific region - you must be sure to set the “display title” attribute on it otherwise we won’t use it.
I think this should work although I haven’t tried it myself.
Season descriptions will be available when TMDB has them, and you’re using TMDB ordering for that specific show.
Thanks for the info. This is something we’ll have to discuss internally to figure out the correct way forward. Will keep you updated.
Hey, sorry I got your logs but unfortunately I forget to ask you to enable “Debug Logging” so I can’t see anything useful.
In your server settings under General, make sure you’ve enabled “Show advanced” then ensure “Enable Plex Media Server debug logging” is enabled (please DO NOT enable verbose logging).
After saving that setting then refresh the metadata for the item and grab the new logs.
If possible it would also be very useful if you could provide a sample file, you can DM me a link in that case.
Thanks for focusing this awkward issue we faced in our country.
Hope u can find a properly way to tackle this question.
Thanks
Both these shows had the wrong and the correct title entered for them for UK
I have deleted the wrongly titled ones, and changed the other to display title
It says the changes are being processed by the team (i assume manually checking what i entered), so not sure how long it will take to change on the site
Hi! Thanks for the good work.
Does this agent add something like the Movie agent to be able to match the item with a tmdb ID directly in the directory’s name? Like “Batman Begins (2005) {tmdb-272}”
That would be super useful! I didn’t find any mention of that in this thread but maybe I missed it.
Thanks!
Just checking back to see if IMDb ratings are in and/or if nfo files are being read yet?
Here are my logs Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-14_08-40-01.zip (2.3 MB)
and I DM’d you a link to sample file.
This may or not have been supported before (I never noticed it before now) but I just noticed that backgrounds appears to be season specific ?
I noticed as I have my specific fanart.jpg
for some shows, American Horror Story as an example and it was not appearing on some seasons. Upon checking a different background is used for each season.
I took a look at this doc but cannot see any reference on how to set local fanart per season ?
The scanners and metadata agents used by Plex will work best when your major types of content are separated from...
Anyone know what the naming format is for this ?
Thanks! Found the problem and I’ll get this fixed up in a future update.
This is happening right now because the season matches to a real season but the episode doesn’t and we weren’t checking for this case.
