I think I have found another bug.
For specials that don’t have an Air Date assigned in thetvdb or themoviedb, I’ve noticed that I will assign a random date and year. Usually in 2019 or later.
About a week ago I created Ducktales (2017) Season 0 on TMDB and included episode info and a few episode cards as well as posters. After a day all the titles and descriptions came through and any season level posters came in a few days later but after 7 days the episode cards are not coming in for the episodes I included them.
I’ve noticed title cards are a bit odd for a few series (Good Eats recent episode picked up a new title card but that title card isn’t visible in the edit window for the episode - and TMDB doesn’t have episode images for these).

Attached is a server log produced after a “refresh metadata” was run on Ducktales.
Plex Media Server Logs_2021-03-14_15-09-24.zip (4.3 MB)
Is there a good spot for me to learn a bit more about these logs myself as well? Just so I can maybe dig through them better myself.
just curious. is the new scanner based on the TV episode data in IMDB instead of TVTB? Seems counterintuitive since IMDB’s TV data is obviously incomplete.
I’ll follow up with Adriana tomorrow on this, we don’t yet have the images on our side yet but I’m not sure why: Season 0 of DuckTales (2017) - Plex
No. We don’t currently use any IMDB data for episodes but we will be adding this to supplement the existing data from TVDB and TMDB.
Can we get an option of which data to use
The new scanner is using imdb for show descriptions which i find worse than tvdb, so i am having to manually change things
Alternatively is there any negatives on switching back to the old agents, the new agents are certainly faster, but the quality of data has taken a nosedive
No it doesn’t.
Edit the show at its top level. You can select among TMDB, TheTVDB (aired), TheTVDB (DVD), and TheTVDB (absolute).
The same selector exists for the whole library as a default.
You are right, my mistake, but it seems to be using tmdb for its data, when i have it set to tvdb (aired)
I have this in my library
https://www.thetvdb.com/series/benidorm
This is set to use tvdb ordering, and the show description i get is
Set in the Solana all-inclusive Resort, Benidorm follows the antics of regulars and first-time holiday makers on their journeys abroad.
This discription is not the one shown on tvdb
The same is happening with other shows also, the summary is not what is shown on tvdb
Same with episode descriptions
S10E01
Plex has
Anticipation is in the air at the Solana as Joyce and Monty’s big day has arrived; however, when things go awry at the wedding, Kenneth volunteers to save the day.
tvdb has
Anticipation is in the air at the Solana as it’s Joyce and Monty’s big day and Monty is steaming ahead with last-minute plans; will Joyce like his surprise venue, and just how good is the catering going to be? Meanwhile, Sam has been left in charge at the Solana and can’t resist the chance to make some extra cash by organising a raffle in Neptune’s. It’s also Billy and Sheron’s 25th wedding anniversary holiday, but although they are determined to enjoy themselves, speculation could cause a feud.
Did you set the library to use TheTVDB before or after you refreshed the metadata?
Is this a fresh library or a converted one?
If it is converted, did you Refresh Metadata after selecting the new agent?
That summary is from TMDB.
Episode summaries can come from anywhere if they exist in the same order from those sources. Right now it seems to be that we’re preferring TMDB for these, likely because of translation availlability but I will have to find out. I’ll discuss this with the team.
Thanks, I prefer the metadata from tvdb as it has better data for the shows i have
If you still want the details, this was an existing library that i converted, i then refreshed all metadata after this, i also refreshed this show just before my above post
Thanks, we’ll definitely look at tweaking where we pull specific metadata from. Any feedback is always much appreciated.
I have to say (and it may have been said earlier in this thread) that it’s so refreshing and appreciated that @drzoidberg33 is so active and responds to virtually every comment.
If (and when ) a break from here is taken, it’s well deserved!
Another show from TMDB that doesn’t seem to be pulling data well - missing cast listings and episode cards: Marvel Studios: Legends
Since that, and Ducktales Season 0 are both new creations at TMDB maybe there’s something related.
@drzoidberg33 yes, no, maybe?
I’ll update this thread when things are added.
Yes, possibly related. There is an issue we’re tracking which is causing some updates to be missed, it’s being worked on.
Great, thanks for confirming that. I have noticed that updates for older shows take significantly longer to come over from TMDB → Plex. As one example, I made some changes to Dinotopia on the 10th March and they still have not arrived.
