almost every day i’m frustrated by the fact that this feature doesn’t exist. makes me rethink having bought the lifetime pass if this is how they respond to this request.
I have to agree, wishing I had tried a couple months before diving in to a lifetime pass. I have had so many problems since the switch to pass, and instead of gaining features I want, they go and end plugins which provided some workarounds for features.
As long as Plex is in bed with movie studios, we’ll likely never get the option to share playlists.
I just started a new thread -just for fun - to try to get playlist export feature.
That way at least we have a way out of the plex nightmare playlists.
I just switched my music listening over to MrMC on appletv because of playlist issues to numerous to count.
Here’s yet another request for playlist sharing!
+1 for me too, I’ve lost too many hours recreating playlists
now that we can EDIT auto playlists, please provide an easy way to share or copy them to other users on the server.
It’s quite obvious they are not listening to their users.
many have named collections as alternative, but i think that isn’t a good alternative because of the function hide items that are in a collection.
I use that function to have all parts of a collection (like pirates of the caribean 1-5) in just one item.
So if i make a collection for someone that means all these items are gone from the homepage of that library.
As a workaround, I tried to get a buddy to setup a smart playlist to look at my music rankings from his server. Sadly, can’t do this because that metadata isn’t shared. I assume this is to stop conflicts in rankings. This problem is one of the most frustrating in all of plex land. I share music and movies but I can’t share playlists to make life easy and fun. Seems so fundamental, yet, obviously not.
For a family having the ability to setup playlist is kinda of essential. I paid for a Plex Pass not really thinking this was an issue until now. Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase implement this feature for music. Thank you for your awesome work!
Soooo … where is this at?
- This was first requested 5 1/2 years ago
- It is the #1 most-voted-for UI-related feature request
- It is the #4 most-voted-for feature overall (currently has 1145 votes)
- It is the #8 most-commented-on feature request
… and yet I can’t see a single commitment from a Plex employee about this, except for lots of generic “we love to hear your feature ideas” around the place.
I’m a Product Owner and UX Specialist for the digital services at a large bank, and I have to say that this raises some warning signs for me. I really enjoy Plex and appreciate that I can share my content with my family easily, which saves them time and a lot of money. But while the back-end is really very impressive, the usability of the front-end product interface could be a lot easier, with some basic things harder than they should be or missing altogether.
Not listening to customers - especially for a basic feature request like this when feature ideas are explicitly sought - is just bad form. Not providing any acknowledgment of the feature request(s) or some kind of roadmap is beyond rude, it is disrespectful to customers and says their voices and patronage are not actually valued after all.
Very disappointed.
This is quite important in the use of a multi-user multimedia server. It was a big disappointing when I found that you cannot share playlists with another users. I hope they implement this soon.
+1
But has this thread ever been read by devs or moderators?
Have you seen this thread about shared playlists?
https://forums.plex.tv/t/how-do-you-share-playlists-with-friends/72906/430
Yes, and I was threatened to be banned by a moderator because I tagged the devs to get attention on this post.
Would have thought this to be a standard feature of server wide playlists. If the admin user makes a playlist. It should be able to be managed just as other content. I can remake the playlist for each user manually, but it should be as simple as “allow user #3 access to playlists”
I vote for this implementation.
+1 This would be a great feature. Just the ability to share playlists for starters and then the addition of other features could follow with future releases. Great idea that should have been implemented back in 2014 with the initial request. Is there a reason it hasn’t been implemented I wonder?
sharing playlists is already possible. I have it working with my friends
how?
cant seem to do it
