common sense applies here. If you’re the server owner you can share media that you own. As far as I know no one does this. Not even Apple. If you don’t own the media, how can you share it with others and still feel right with the artists that took the time to make the work? If your shared playlist contains Tidal music and they don’t pay for a subscription, don’t expect to see anything as well. There is a fine balance between artists and fans that still hasn’t reached a happy medium so many wars on that front to restrict and control that is advantageous to either the artists or the entities wanting to exploit them. I have playlists setup with movies / music that I share with my friends with no issue. They play it in their car and at home with no issue.
Who are you, the Copyright police??
No worries, I figured it out anyway. I was expecting it to appear in their “Playlists” section, but it was in the “Shared” category.
The contrary. You misunderstood. The note meant that the owner can share work not non-owners sharing to other non-owners. That is how I understand it works.
Glad you figured it out.
Plex App crash if i click on sharred…
plexamp doesnt show sharred items?
Selecting multiple users at once and the share feature not only from the plex.tv side would be great!
After I shared it as Admin I don’t see it somewhere. Was also expecting it in the “Playlists” section. But even for the Home Users I shared the I can’t find a “Shared” category and the playlists.
- Can someone guide me to the right place to accept shared playlists and find in the Home User section the lists afterward?
See “Viewing Shared Media” in the linked support article.
If the Shared section isn’t showing, you might need to access it through More (or pin it to your main navigation). There’s not much of “accepting” shared content… it’ll simply appear as “shared from server xyz”.
Yea, took me awhile to find it too. I’d rather it appear in the Playlist section instead of a separate Shared area.
Even basic things like showing which items in a playlist are already watched! I have a script to update an IMDB Top 250 playlist. Can’t tell from the playlist which ones are left to watch, or the total remaining viewing time. Can’t go to the movie info page from the playlist view, either.
I still don’t get it. I want to share a playlist, no media. Media is already shared to the local Test users.
From Admin

Inside the Test User
Yea, you have to look in Shared. It’s a silly implementation IMO. The obvious place to look is in Playlists or the Music library.
Hmmm, that’s strange. Are you restricting any libraries? Any other restrictions on the user?
Not that I am aware off. Sorry.
I just figured this out! You need to click “MORE >” and then you’ll see the “Shared.” That is where the share playlists are located. If you choose to pin “Shared” it will always appear on your main menu. I find it strange it doesn’t share it to the Playlists folder… but at least you can share the playlists.
Yea, I wish it showed up in Playlists, but at least we can share them. Next thing I really need is being able to import m3u music playlists.
More doesn’t show anything in my setup

How do you share in the opposite direction…managed user to admin user? This is a really poor implementation IMO. And the shares don’t show up on Plexamp.
