I’d like to see more detailed reports on my iPhone of where I’m at with my current download other than an occasionally updated circle. I’d like current download speed, average download speed, any server side encoding progress, and ETAs for all of it.
Right now it will go from 0% to 60%, back to 0, etc. It’s pretty unhelpful.
Will close after three months… maybe I’ll just post here about it from time to time. It’s cathartic.
I think devs should get some junky phones and junky cell service and try downloading anything. Certainly on WiFi with your server, or perhaps at Plex HQ you may not see problems us little people have!
I totally agree with you and I have a toddler and plex never saved the day for me. I thought o downloaded the movie but plex crap out and I have to use YouTube or Netflix. Plex was never reliable imo.
Been on plex for around five years and this has frustrated me enough. Installed Emby, and darn it if it doesn’t just work - and works well to boot. We’ll see how it goes, but I’ll be running both of them for a while then we’ll see.
I don’t know where to start. This download feature is such crap, it really makes me angry. Sync used to work just fine, but of course they have to disable a perfectly working feature, and introduce a new one with tons of bugs.
I’m just now trying to download a couple of movies to watch them for offline viewing during a flight. It keeps downloading, but then just shows a nice little yello !. Error downloading this item. Great, what exactly is the error? How can I fix the error to make it download? There’s nothing, not even in the log files of the server. Wonderful, so now I can stare at the blank screen during my 24 hour journey? Thank you Plex!!!
And why can’t I play a downloaded (unbelievable, but some items do get downloaded) item directly by selecting it from the Home screen? Why do I have to go into the Download section, and can only play it from there?
