I was able to sync these movies, but I keep getting errors on the new download feature. I did delete all the sync movies and sync is not even a category for me anymore.
I did download the logs, but 140 files in the log - which one should I copy into this forum??
I have a similar problem. Nothing synced, app completely uninstalled/reinstalled and cannot download a single thing. Effectively making my plex useless for my most common needs (downloads for long journeys)
For what itâs worth, same here. Downloads is far worse than sync (which was barely working for me too honestly). Netflix downloads in 30 seconds, where I can leave Plex Downloads open for 3 hours and just come back to a ton of errors (also, I donât transcode, choose original quality).
At what point does Sync get extended as weâre 2 months away with significant numbers of people complaining that Downloads does not work for some reason?
Same issue on my iPad Pro with latest iPad OS, Plex App (7.25), and Plex Server (Plex Pass version: 1.25.0.5246). All downloads now fail, even when Plex app is left open and iPad untouched. Surely this is being investigated? Forums filled with complaints. I never has an issue with the âSyncâ feature which âDownloadsâ had replaced.
Please bring back the âSyncâ option. I preferred being about to change the quality for each download depending on size and time available for downloading (Plex downloads take forever). At least make âDownloadsâ work.
Also not happy that all my content downloaded with âSyncâ will be deleted from my device âat the end of 2021â. Plex is becoming a joke.
The error in Plex app for iPadOS that I continually get is âError downloading this itemâ. And then it starts again. before getting the same error. When I switch back to âSyncâ I am able to download successfully.
Plex Sever is version (1.25.0.5246) and is hosted docker.
There are no issues in watching in Original quality and it seems I could watch movie multiple times before the download gets anywhere close to finish. ISP download speeds at 200Mbps.
Please keep the âSyncâ option for those who want extra settings. I like it as I can easily set the Quality depending on file size and available time to download it. Plex has taken a step backwards by replacing Sync with Downloads. Stop trying to be like Netflix.
Still not able to download. Was watching it with Console open. No errors were displayed in the logs when the iPadOS Plex app reported â Error downloading this item â.
The console logs (screenshot below) showed the download starting from 0.0% and 61.9% where the download was before the issue happened. While it is very slowly counting up from 0.0% the 61.9% does not change but still thinks it there. Not sure if this is what happened in the logs I uploaded previously for when the issue happened. It had taken at least 2 hours to download to 60% before it reset back to 0%
In the iPadOS Plex app, with Quality still set to âOriginalâ , I changed âDownload formatâ from 'Maximize compatibilityâ to âOriginalâ . Download was super fast this time (7GB video file), but after reaching 100% and Plex console showing media download 100% completed, the iPad app got the same Error downloading this item message again before restating download from 0%
Turing off âMaximize Compatibilityâ format looks promising as it actually finished downloading but still getting Error downloading this item message in the iPad app.
Attached TXT file containing logs of when download completed to when it restarted downloading same movie file again.
Also, tried reverting to sync on both iPad and iPhone. Sync completes but when I try to play syncâd files, I get âCouldnât retrieve the play queue for this item. please try again.â Same error on multiple shows, on multiple devices when reverting to sync. Downloads still wonât complete.
I have a similar problem. My CD/music collection is fully available for streaming on my iPhone via the Plex App. But when trying to use the new âDownloadâ process to store a CD on my iPhone for offline access it appears to queue and the disk âspinsâ as if the download is happening, but it never does. No activity is showing on the Media Server at all during this process.
Excuse my ignorance, but Iâm not sure how to download logs. If someone is able to point me to instructions to do that Iâm happy to share here.
Just wanted to add that Iâm also experiencing the issue described in this post. Itâs not consistent though. I attempted to download 14 different movies to test the new Download functionality and all but 2 of them successfully downloaded. I was able to download one of the problem movies by cancelling the other one but Iâm still not able to download that final movie. Perhaps indicating that a transcoding timeout has occurred?
The successful movie downloads were all mp4 files. The final remaining one is an mkv.
Things I have tried:
Optimizing the movie for a mobile download (Movie â Optimize â Optimize for mobile)
Modifying transcode quality from âPrefer higher qualityâ â Automated
Increasing âTranscoder default throttle bufferâ from 60 to 600
As another posted had suggested, I made sure the download quality was set to original
Iâm not getting errors, but it shows as downloads completed, but then when I am traveling stuff that is marked as downloaded is suddenly not available and plex is trying to download it again.
i have the same issue ´im using iphone ios app and server version 4.63.0. Trying to download music but no progress. I already tried to set the download quality to âoriginalâ. Nothing happens.
Really struggling here. Downloads is just not working for me at all, and thatâs just a fundamental breaking issue.
@anon18523487 Is there any detail to this being a âknown issue?â I seem to be experiencing it on both iOS and Windows client devices (server running on MacOS.) Iâve uploaded logs above. Happy to help reproduce/test - anything that gets to a resolution.
