Raspberry Pi 2 B -- Video Stutter & Fails?

I have setup a nice Plex setup at my in-laws home and it had been working rather flawlessly for a couple weeks. Now, though, files refuse to play after 5-10 minutes of playback and then video cuts completely from the raspberry pi. Has anyone experienced this before? Is there an easy solution to fix this?

Using the Plex Server 0.9.14.x releases? I’ve had some of those produce the same results.

Do you know what release it is resolved on? I can confirm it is running 0.7.1.

which Plex server are you running? As @KnightOrc stated, the 0.9.14.x releases are not very stable yet (maybe the last release, haven’t test it yet). These releases let the server transcode everything. Some file didn’t play at all in my case,

So if you have the same problem, this isn’t a Rasplex issue, but a Plex server issue. To solve this you could revert to the stable server version 0.9.12.19.

You could also try upgrading to PMS 0.9.14.4, I’ve had no problems with that, 0.9.14.2 had issues as reported in other PMS topics.

Ah, i just realized you were asking for the plex server version. The plex server is on version 0.9.12.19.

Also, the server that my in-laws are using doesn’t have a plex pass, so i think that the latest they are on, 0.9.12.19, is the most updated version for them.

So, after discussing further with them it does seem to be a player issue, not server side issue. The RPi2 is having green specks being displayed, similar to when a video card is going out, and at random times it will just drop video INPUT completely. Meaning the screen goes to “no signal” on their receiver as it the RPi2 is not outputting any video signal.

Has anyone experienced this in the past? Is it possible that i have a defective RPi2? Or is the version of rasplex old?

What power supply are you using - minimum is 2A, with a decent Micro USB cable. Rasplex 1.0.0 is the latest, however there is an issue with audio if using TV’s speakers, 1.0.1 is about to be released which fixes that, might be worth waiting.

Okay, that may be the issue, with the powerbrick. I’ll have to check. Thanks for the recommendation. I think i used the one that i was using with the RPi B…so might be underpowered.

Any chance you can mark this topic answered, thanks.

Plex Server 0.9.14.4 doesn’t seem to have the cutout issue, should work for any version of RasPlex etc, but 1.0.1 is the latest release.
