Blocked IP - cannot access plex.tv

My IP address appears to be blocked. 64.25.201.69

I have followed your troubleshooting steps:

  • Ensure that “javascript” is enabled in the browser - it is
  • Clear your browser’s cache/cookies/LocalStorage - done
  • Temporarily disable browser extensions/addons/plugins - disabled all
  • Use a Private/Incognito browser window - tried
  • Use a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) - tried edge, chrome, and firefox
  • Use a different device (e.g. phone/tablet vs computer) - tried this as well
  • Use a different DNS provider - tried this as well, DNS seems to resolve fine with default provider, as well as others:

The only way I can get to the plex.tv website is to connect via my VPN provider.

I can attach server logs, but I really don’t see the point as I cannot get to plex.tv to authenticate.

Please advise.

Are you trying to access your server through the browser? If so you should be using app.plex.tv as it looks like maybe you’re trying to go to www.plex.tv:32400 by mistake.

FWIW your server is responsive on the IP you listed on port 32400.

I don’t see that anywhere in the OP’s post. There are 3 screenshots of reset connections when they attempted to load up plex.tv (and one case ofhttps://plex.tv).

While the user could go to their local server, it still looks like there is a break somewhere in the connection between the user and Plex. Could be an ISP block on Plex site traffic, or could be an IP ban from Plex itself (I hadn’t heard of such a thing happening before, but it is possible)

I saw the access attempt :wink:

I had my ISP, which I happen to own, change my IP to test my theory, and imagine that I was able to access plex.tv for a short period of time. It is now apparently blocked again.

Once again, my main issue is not being able to access plex.tv for authentication. My plex server is fine.

So @plexsupport, what is happening?
