IP Address Blocked to API route

It seems that my IP address is being blocked for any requests that route to plex.tv/api/*. This started happening about 7 days ago, at least that’s when I noticed the issues. If I attempt to use plex.tv/claim/ the page spins and the request eventually times out. Additionally, the “Claim” button on the Plex Server does not work either and times out. When my Plex Server attempts to POST to plex.tv/api/claim/exchange?token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx it returns code 408. Even logging into the forum is blocked since it makes a call to the API route. I had to use a VPN in order to login. I was able to manually claim my plex server by using a VPN and curl POST request to the api/claim route, then adding the response to my Preferences.xml. Although, this didn’t solve my problem because I am unable to manage my plex server, there are no server settings available. I’m assuming because the plex server is attempting to contact the plex.tv/api/ but is being blocked. Additionally, I have completed the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Clear browser’s cache/cookies/LocalStorage
  • Temporarily disable browser extensions/addons/plugins
  • Use a Private/Incognito browser window
  • Use a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
  • Use a different device (e.g. phone/tablet vs computer)
  • Use a different DNS provider
  • Signed out of all devices
  • Clean reinstall of Plex on Linux with Docker and Windows standalone.

Is there someone that can look into why my IP is being blocked?

Where is your server located?

Independently, if you rapid-fire the Plex API, you will be temporarily blocked. Wait a day and retry.
Think of disabling any 3rd-party apps and tools which might be trying to access plex.tv
