Bluetooth remote, specifically logitech hub

ok so I’m trying to get my harmony hub working with this.

I can’t get past step two, I turn on the BT in the system settings and it doesn’t see any of my dongles. I have several different kinds and apparently none of them are compatible.

can I fix this? edit something, etc… or does anyone know of a working dongle that I can purchase?

Then once I get a working dongle, what should I set as the device in the harmony settings?

any help, thanks.

Bluetooth has never worked in Rasplex, not with any device, look at all of the topics containing ‘Bluetooth’ in the title.

Likely to be removed in next release.

ok… well you would know so I’ll take your word for it. I found a couple articles floating around where the author says they’re using a bluetooth keyboard, but perhaps they’re mistaken or something, dunno.

openelec supports it, which I assume is why it’s in there, why does rasplex not? can it not be properly added? just seems like too much of a cop out to remove it, because having BT would be very awesome.

anyways, back on track, still need to get my harmony hub to work besides through CEC. I assume either Pi Board or Flirc? is there another good option, like an aux IR receiver (3.5mm jack) or anything else?

Have a look at the RemotePi Board from MSL Digital, supported in Rasplex.

eek… NOOOO
i run bluetooth with my harmony hub because is way faster and more accurate than gpio ir.
don´t remove it, please!

Ignore that, it was a long time ago, Bluetooth is now working fine, at least for keyboards, no Bluetooth audio though.

I just installed the RemotePi on one of my RPi2’s and it works perfectly with my Harmony Ultimate One. It was super easy to set up and is very accurate, no double presses when you hit the button once for example.

It also allows you to turn off power to the RPi2 using the remote as well, no more pulling the plug or manually hitting a switch (if you have one).

I am very happy with it at least.

Can you tell me who you conifgured this please, what device did you add to the harmony?
many thanks

… the LED’s on the Pi and remote Pi are far too bright and to that end, I would like to see a dark tinted polycarbonate used instead of the clear.

The red light is the most annoying, you can turn this off by adding the following to /storage/.config/autostart.sh:

 (echo 0 >/sys/class/leds/led1/brightness)&

Ned, you’re a wealth of information!

Is it possible to simply dull the LED or is it on/off only?

Yeah, and I’m not even a Ninja!

It’s either on or off, try o piece of Mylar sticky tape to cover the LEDs, without covering the ir sensor.

I thought about painting the LED’s with black paint except for the tiniest of spots. Don’t know how well that would work though.

Sharpie pen works better than painting, dims but not obliterates.
