Broken after update

Server Version#:Plex 1.27.1.5891 ubuntu deb 64
Player Version#:

after i updated the server like i normally do the server wont work and wont even let me log in. i dont understand what happened even after the updated that broke everything. i went down to 1.26.2.5797 which was the newest old version i could find online. but that doesnt still work. either the port number was changed to something unknown after the update or its made to completely break your server after you update on purpose.

my server is still working fine with emby and jellyfin. but plex is not running or working . i sudo dpkg -r plexmediaserver as well and even restarted services over and over .

the only thing i can see is somehow it changed the port or something really screwed up plex .

Please stop plex

Make a tar.gz of the “Logs” directory.

Uplad that tar.gz file here.

how would one do this? i dont even know where the logs directory even lives on when i dpkg this server?

sudo tar cf /tmp/plexlogs.tar.gz "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Logs"

The log files tar.gz will be in /tmp

media@anime:~$ sudo tar cf /tmp/plexlogs.tar.gz "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media server/Logs

^C
media@anime:~$ sudo tar cf /tmp/plexlogs.tar.gz "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media server/Logs
media@anime:~$ sudo tar cf /tmp/plexlogs.tar.gz "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media server/Logs

^C
media@anime:~$ sudo tar cf /tmp/plexlogs.tar.gz "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media server/Logs

well even when it installed the update it pretty much removed plex anyway. and will not allow any plex from being installed at all.

thanks for trying to help. this last update was a deciding factor to walk away from plex i went ahead and purged plex from my server. ill just use jellyfin and emby since those work just fine. maybe down the road ill try it again. i did use plex for over 5 years now and have a lifetime plex pass. but something needs to be done about these updates.

you can close this thread im not going to try to figure anything else out.

For future reference – don’t forget to close the quotes when dealing with those pathnames as I had written. Looking here, you can immediately see the closing quote was forgotten.

Knock on wood (never had an issue updating my server on windows)…but I swear every time I blink there is a server update

Try switching to the public releases, then you’ll only hear about the full release updates instead of beta patches.
