Cannot create library & link media - “Browse for Media Folders” not available in creating Library Option
Where exactly are you experiencing this?
e.g. on what platform is your Plex Media Server hosted and what version of PMS is installed?
The only platform I’m aware of that doesn’t allow to set a media folder is the WD MyCloud Home. There, libraries are hard-wired to the default media folders of the NAS.
Thanks, indeed its WD MyCould Home. In previous version of MY Cloud OS3 and earlier we were able to create as many folders and sub folders as we want but not now. Is there a way out?
It’s only the WD MyCloud Home that’s got its media folders hard-wired (IIRC it’s also the only platform stuck at PMS 1.18.6 which is now 2+ years old).
The only way out I see is to use the NAS for storage but install a PMS on another system (e.g. some mini PC or Shield) and point that setup to the media stored on your WD MyCloud Home
Thank you but it wont make sense to add more costs in storage having 4TB on my WD Mycloud un utilized. I guess Will have to manage with selected 4 types of media folders only!
My point was not so much that you cannot use the MyCloud Home’s storage… just that you cannot use it for a more complex library setup with a Plex Media Server setup on that MyCloud Home. If you e.g. install Plex Media Server on your regular desktop, you can point it to folders anywhere on your WD MyCloud Home
Thanks let me try
It worked thanks a lot
Hi, in Plex for WD My Cloud Home you can create “Collections” which are like sub-folders. For example, in the Movies folder, you hover over a movie to edit it (pencil symbol) → Tags → Collections. You write the name of a new collection (Action, Suspense, Adventures, Drama, etc) or choose an already created collection. That way the collections are created, and the “Collections” tab is automatically added to the Movies folder. The same can be done in the other folders (Series, Videos, etc.).
If in the Library tab of the Movies folder you want to hide the movies that are in a collection, then you have to go to the Movies folder → 3 vertical dots —> Manage Library → Edit → Advanced – Collections . There you choose the option to hide or show the movies that are in collections.
Greetings
