Buffering issues

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help/advise, I’ve been using plex since around April 2015 without a problem, but I have recently upgraded my TV to a 4k Samsung (UE49KU6100) and then downloaded a few 4k file. I’ve added them to plex, but when I try and play them, it plays 15secs of film before buffering then plays 5 secs and buffers and so on :frowning:

I done some testing but still confused.

My specs were:
i3 530 @ 2.93GHz
8GB RAM

I’ve then moved it to an
i7 4820k @ 3.70GHz
8GB RAM

(both running windows)

My media is on a Netgear NAS (raid 5), I’ve moved a few 4k files to a local SSD on the plex server but the same happens, all my device are connected via a HP gigabit switch.

Most of the 4k files are 50GB MKV files, which I can play from a USB in the TV.

Any advice will be welcomed,

Kind Regards

Jay

If your 4K movies are not exactly in the format as indicated in this help article

then Plex server will try to transcode them.
Which won’t work, even on faster desktop CPUs.

Ahhhh makes sense, I will convert the media and try again.
Thank you
