I am having a lot of stuttering issues if I try to play anything over 720p. How do I begin to troubleshoot this to determine if it is the server, my network or the client?
I have tested on Roku, xbox one and web and the issue seems to occur.
Can you replicate the problem and, with DEBUG logging only, capture it while it’s buffering so I may see it?
Also be advised, a lot has changed since 1.12.2.
I will also need to see the media info / XML for what you are playing to determine if your CPU can actually handle the load of what it’s being asked to do
It now prohibits 32 bit applications on 64 bit processors.
In order to be compliant, all 64 bit processors now have a minimum DSM version of 6.0
Otherwise, DSM 5.x has been completely deprecated.
There are only two devices which Synology has locked to DSM 5.2
Those devices are supported at DSM 5.2.
That explains it. Determining Synology versus XPEnology is on my to-do list. it makes debugging a lot easier and I can infinitely more accurate with initial reply.
You need to bump it up to DSM 6 and 64 bit. DSM 5.2 is the absolute min for those older systems. Nothing below 5.2 anywhere.
While waiting to upgrade my NAS, I thought I would install Plex Server on my windows machine. The network between my PC and the NAS is wired. I am still getting buffering issues.
