Buffering on NVIDIA Shield Player

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

So I was attempting to play a 4k video on my 1080p TV via my NVIDIA Shield and the plex server on my PC could not play it, kept buffering, had my cpu running at 100% (Intel(R) Core™ i3-4330 CPU @ 3.50GHz) . I am using wifi, not cable connection to the shield.

My issue is when i do the same thing with the emby server, the videos play flawlessly, no issues, not even a hint of buffering

Plex also takes a while to load content for display, it is just seriously slow. What could be causing this?

what are the file specs ( video codec, etc)? 4k is just a resolution. I’m assuming it is transcoding it down to 1080 based on server CPU usage

Size: 8.58 GB 25.5 Mbps MKV

HERE IS ANOTHER ONE

Size: 7.39 GB 22.4 Mbps MKV

Video: 3840x2160 24.0 fps 21.6 Mbps HEVC 150 Main 10

Audio 1: English EAC3 5.1 (side) 768 kbps 48000 kHz

Let me know if you need any additional information. I dont like emby that much but it does play the videos without any problems, so I am wondering if this is some settings issue. Please let me know what you think, as none of the 4k videos are playing.

Thanks for the response.

could you give me some assistance with this? I provided the video info

I’m having a similar issue.

Seems to be shield related as the videos play fine from Plex on other devices (over wi-fi) but even though they are hosted locally (on the shield with Plex server) they just endlessly buffer and never start playing.

Edit: VLC plays the file fine on the same hardware.
