Sometimes my movie plex just needs to buffer a little bit more before they get started. and other times not. Is it because it 1080p?
Hard to tell without further information…
- Could be your server’s HDDs require to spin up before the streaming can start
- Could be the network bandwidth being just enough to keep up with the stream, therefore taking some extra seconds to get a sufficient buffer
- Could be the video requiring transcoding and the server taking a moment to build a sufficient buffer to get a smooth stream going

This is not everytime IT Will do IT little longer? My computer is a cepter. Im using the newest version of plex and Windows. And i use plex on my Apple tv and this on a ethernet cable. There is also another movie media where the movie sometimes takes a little more seconds before the chapter comes when I skipped to another chapter. But it is only for another chapter and not 2 and more chapters. Why does it happen? Is it just such file is?
If your PC uses a classic drive (HDD), that drive is using spinning discs to store the media. If the HDD is not used, Windows will stop the drive (spinning of the discs will stop). When you want to read data from that HDD, Windows first needs to restart the spinning – that might take a few seconds depending on the spinning speed (usually 5400 or 7200 rotations per minute) and power saving settings of the HDD (more “green” HDDs might take a little longer to spin up).

I’m not sure what you’re asking for. Having a new router doesn’t mean your PC’s HDD doesn’t need to spin up. Especially if you’re only seeing this occasionally… check if it happens after your PC was asleep for some time or if it also happens if the HDD is fully awake (e.g. after saving some files).
Same as before… you’re not getting more/better answers by asking the same questions repetitively, spiced with the occasional “what?”.
But can we agree that it is not because there is a mistake? that is, that there is no error or more? And that’s what I asked for with the other movie. Why does it happen with it. so there are sometimes a few more seconds before the chapter comes? And what can it mean if the movies only buffer a few more seconds sometimes?

That can be a big issue. External hard drives LOVE to spin down when not being used for some time. If you have your videos for plex on external drives, and the drive has spun down, it can take upwards of 10-15 seconds of trying to access them before you can even get a file list. If Plex has been idle long enough that the drives stopped, and you then try to watch a movie, Plex may appear to “buffer” for the entire time until the file is accessed. Then, while the drive is still spinning further videos should start immediately.
The timeout for inactivity for drives can vary. It can be 10 minutes to half an hour. It really depends on what you set in the OS that the drive is connected to.
Okay. But this is not Many seconds that Will buffering. But do IT only buffering more secounds Sometimes and not every time. And that’s what I asked for with the other movie. Why does it happen with it. that doing with two films.
Different videos may have different codecs which can affect how quickly a transcode can start or keep up.
Different videos may have very different bit rates even if they are both the same resolution. A higher bit rate means there is more data to send. Bit rate can also vary throughout a video. Opening credits and action scenes usually have high bit rates. The more changing elements and details on screen the higher the bitrate will be.
So is that why it only sometimes takes longer before it’s buffet, and that it often does not take that long to buffet? And back to The Wolverine and Return of Xander Cage. Why did it sometimes take a few seconds longer before I got to another chapter. And it’s just a chapter, not a specific chapter?
when you skip chapters or just skip ahead then the player needs to start over with whatever segment now needs to start processing. the buffer at this point is empty and needs to fill up again

Not all video files are the same even if they are the same resolution or the same codec. There are many properties of a any given video file and there are millions of combinations those properties can vary between different videos
