Buffing every 10 or 15 seconfs

Having buffing issues only on 4k movies so far and i think movies at a higher bit rate. I am running windows 10 on a desktop only operating plex and nothing else.

Was watching bandwith and bandwith would drop to nothing and then pick back up to the speed movie was running so for this instance 26Mbps.

Would anyone know the cause of this, its fustrating to say the least.

Wired or wifi?

Its wifi, using a tp-link c9 router

Plug It in temporarily and see if it’s still an issue.

Wont be able to plug the pc using LAN as internet socket is in another room. I have had the 4k movies work a year ago on wifi but not know. When I plug the hard drive in tv it works fine though. Have tested few movies and it seems to have problems after 22Mbps.

Same issue here… no resolution/help from plex employees

Wifi quality can change with new wifi hardware in your home or changes at your neighbours.

WiFi can have many issues:

Interference From electrical devices in house. Example: microwave Fluo lighting, Motors…

Congestion: From Neighbors or too many devices on same network same Channel and band.

Suggestions:

  1. Try changing Channels and bands On WiFI router. 2.4GHz other than channel 6. On 5GHz band any other.

2.Make sure your router is connected to router with Ethernet (Wire) preferably gigabit and Cat 6 cabling.
3. Try turning off all devices one by one to eliminate possible inference.
4. Make sure your Wifi router is not close to anything electrical and has reason height.
5. Make sure you Windows PC is set for max thru put with Ethernet to Router
