[BUG] 2.2.1.70 Playback Buffers Endlessly and NaN:NaN Is Shown in Length

When playing back my Plex DVR shows, if I have Direct Play enabled, the show just buffers endlessly with “NaN:NaN” as the length. If I disable Direct Play, the show plays and the length is shown correctly, however the audio and video are slightly out-of-sync (enough to be noticeable and irritating). If I disable both Direct Play AND Direct Stream, the video plays most of the time (other times it just buffers endlessly while showing the correct length), and if it does play, the audio and video are in sync.

I’m unsure why there have been so many quality and playback issues with the Xbox One app. Is there any way you guys can improve the QA on this app?

Same issue here. Just got an Xbox One X and can’t playback anything from the Plex DVR. Shows “Buffering” and stays on that. The rest of our content all plays fine (movies, TV shows we own which all live on an external hard drive - media server is a Mac Mini). And my DVR content plays through a browser OK too. But can’t get my DVR content on the Xbox unless I let it transcode by turning off Direct Play.

For most reliable playback of Plex DVR recordings, you should re-encode them first.

My Plex DVR settings transcode on the fly while recording, so they are already optimized.

I can’t believe you are transcoding while recording…
My i7 transcoding while recording yields iffy results.
In fact most the time the file is full of buffering and artifacts.

But if your setup is powerful enough to transcode while recording… Great!!

Intel Xeon E5-2630v2 (hexa-core with 12 threads), 32GB ECC RAM, transcoding to 16GB RAMDisk, on Windows Server 2016 with teamed 1Gbps NICs, and PMS running as a service. My tuner is an HDHomeRun Connect Quad.

Some of my “older” hardware that’s dedicated just to serve as my PMS, but still works great.
