Plex DVR played on Xbox One not working

I’ve been trying out the Plex DVR feature and the files are recorded into mpeg2 .ts files, which will not play through the Plex app on my Xbox One. Is this typical, or do I need a further step to get this to work? My PMS lives on a WD NAS so transcoding isn’t happening. Thanks!

Hi there. What sort of error are you encountering? The app should be able to direct play DVR recordings.

I have issues with direct play for TS files too. I can play the file, but skip is really slow. And if I skip too many times ahead it freezes. Only way I can get it to work is to disable direct play.

@Moussa Can you ask the devs to look into this? Seems to me the Xbox video app thinks it can direct play TS, but it really can’t.

I usually get the “server is not powerful enough to transcode” error.

Update: I usually record a 4am news program and watch it while I get ready for work. It’s 30 mins long. That file played just fine this morning. However, I also have a 60 min program recorded, and that one will not play. It times out while trying to load. So I have no idea.

Are these OTA broadcasts or recorded off Cable? If cable is one perhaps h.264 and the other MPEG2? I ask because some cable provider like Comcast use H.264 on some channels and MPEG2 on other channels. How well they play back could be as simple as what format they are in.

They are recorded off broadcasts. I use a HomeRunHD unit through Plex to record to my NAS. All recordings are in MPEG2.

update #2: I recorded that 30 minute news program again last night and tried to watch it this morning. Yesterday, it played fine. today it would not open. I got the timed-out error.
