[BUG] Android TV 16 - Plex app crashes when opening settings page

Player Version#:10.30.6.4151

On Android TV 16, whenever I try to open the settings page the app crashes/closes.

It works on 10.26.1.123 but not the current version.

Same problem for me on Lineage OS Android 16 (Android TV).

The App just silently crashes similar to a home button press.

Huh same Problem on Android TV Box with the rescent update to Android TV 14.. What a shame

Same thing happening here over the last few weeks. Nothing has changed, am still able to play on samsung plex app. Andoid, spinning circle. After recend android tv upgrade. Any fixes?

Hi all, thanks for reporting, I’ve passed this on to the team to look into it.

Any feedback yet? Any Idea what can bring the app back to normal?
Any more information we can provide to analyze?

Hi, the team has identified the issue and has a fix, we’re hoping to release an update next week.

Still have the exact same issue.
Just updated to Version 10.30.7.4910.

The main reason why I stumbled over that bug was that my streams indefinitely buffers. So I assumed I need to change the Audio pass through or something like that.
But guess what, no matter what I did, I can’t enter the settings menu. Even after multiple fresh installations,
So I’m stranded with a useless plex instance.

Is there a beta or anything I can provide to help getting my plex back to work?

I’m still having this issue. It’s been going on for over a month. App works fine on roku and Samsung. Android tv, constant circle and clicking on plex settings goes immediately to android home screen.

Any fixes?

How is it looking?
10.30.7.4190 has still the same issues as before.

Hi, thanks for letting us know. I will inform the team who has worked on the fix to look into it.

Hey, could you please grab some logs for us to investigate further? https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/

I mean, I would love to, but as the initial issue is that I can’t open the settings menu, I can’t provide any logs. Because I can’t activate the feature.
So maybe doing something with logcat or something similar will work for android TV?

EDIT:
I kind of struggle with the replay feature in here tbh

Here is a logcat I made on my device with the command adb logcat.
I guess the most interesting part are the last entries from plex itself.

This just started happening on my Onn Android Box with version 10.30.7.4190

All of a sudden it just spins for any show. Going to settings crashes the app. Reinstalling does no good. I got 10.26.1.123 installed with the APKMirror app and it does the same thing.

That’s bad. Welcome to the show.
Unfortunatley @geosidi_plex didn’t came back yet.

So last night my other Onn box started just spinning when playing shows but the menu still worked. My android phone plex on 10.26.0.2578 and all my kodi frontends using plexkodiconnect still worked so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a connection issue.

I decided to factory reset the 1st Onn box in case there was some issue but after the reset still no dice.

Out of nowhere this morning though both Onn boxes started working again and magically both settings work without crashing. They’re both on 10.30.7.4190.

I guess I’m lucky compared to others here if it stays this way even though I forgot how much work goes into an android tv box factory reset even with backups to restore.

A fix for this will be in the next beta launching this week.

Would you mind checking the latest beta to see if this is working now?

Sorry to came so late back to you. Yes I finally got the time to check the beta. It works on my side. As well the settings as well as the indifently buffering.
Tested with Version:
10.30.8.4222
I used the version from the Play Store with the beta program.
Thanks for the fix greats.
