Same issue for me. And I have a feeling that 1 week ago this did not happen. Is it possible that the latest update of the Apple TV client or server has caused the failure again? I have everything updated (server, client, tvOS)
For those hoping that updating their Apple devices to the latest OS might help, no dice for me:
- Device: Apple TV 4K 3rd gen (tvOS 26.0.1)
- Audio Output: HomePod 1st gen stereo pair (OS 26.0.1)
- Plex Server: 1.42.2.10156 on Ubuntu 24.04 + Docker
- Plex Client: Apple TV Plex App 8.45
Is the Plex team still actively developing the tvOS app? It was last updated January 28, 2025 (version 8.45). After reviewing the forum thread where new versions are announced, releases came out every month in 2024 ā but thereās been nothing for over 8 months now: Plex for Apple TV - #157 by s_ios_dev .
This is a very widely reported and known issue, and it wonāt be fixed until Plex update the Apple TV client, which hasnāt had a public release since - checks notes - January 2025.
Switching to the old engines fixes it for some people, but not all. Using InFuse as a front end for Plex works for me 100% of the time, but thatās a workaround which costs money, and not a fix.
Can any Plex developer comment? Is it a problem with all Apple TV users with HomePods? Iām an iOS and Android developer and I think this kind of thing should be prioritised.
Also experiencing this. Frustrating
Same issue. Infuse and old engine are workarounds but neither are substitutions for a fix. Come on. This cannot be ignored this loudly.
