Plex Media Server Logs_2020-02-02_08-50-54.zip (3.3 MB)
Since a particular event yesterday, my Movies library can display only if a certain movie’s thumbnail/name/something doesn’t show up. If it does, I get an error about that library being broken. That behavior being in the Web player. If I try to use something like the Plex app on Android, it claims it just plain can’t connect to the Plex server.
I had within the Movies library’s folder a “Some Movie- The Movie (year)” folder. In that was a “Some Movie- The Movie (year).mkv” and a couple behind-the-scenes extras. I made a higher-quality backup of Some Movie from the disc and wanted to use that instead. It’s probably important to note that the new backup’s filename is the same as the old except that it’s an .mp4 instead of an .mkv. The way I normally copy movies over to the folder Plex watches (which lives on an Unraid machine) is over a Samba file share. Currently my desktop is also Linux (Mint).
So, the actual operation that I think broke things. I deleted the .mkv from the folder Plex watches. Then began the few-minutes-long cut-paste of the mp4 into the same folder, with the new file being the same name except for the extension. I didn’t look at the library during the copy, so I’m not sure exactly when things went weird. But ever since that operation completed, things are weird.
Things that are weird:
- Movies library renders fine in the Web app until I scroll it a bit. I’m guessing this is Some Movie coming up in the list, but can’t be sure.
- Plex app on Android claims it can’t connect to the Plex server.
- On the troubleshooting page, when I try to download the database, I get a 22 KB .zip with nothing in it.
- Movies library can’t be deleted.
I’ve tried many runs at scanning media files, refreshing metadata, cleaning bundles, etc. No changes. Tried deleting the Movies library, but it doesn’t go away after confirming a delete. All but Movie library deletion was attempted both before and after I moved the “Some Movie- The Movie (year)” folder up one directory to get it out of Plex’s view.
Has anyone else encountered (and fixed?) anything similar? Is there any saving my users, metadata, watch history, etc. or do I have to completely rebuild?
