[BUG] Cannot cast from plex-web (or plex-desktop) to a PlexAmp player

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#: PlexAmp Headless v4.12.4

Steps to reproduce:

1. Go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/
2. Go to music library
3. Press play on an artist
4. Press “Select Player” icon (similar to the one on PlexAmp mobile/desktop app)

Expected behavior:

• See the same players list as clicking the same icon on PlexAmp desktop

Current behavior:

• See Google Chromecast prompt (plex-web)

• see sharing inactive (desktop player)

Hello, @brazenbull . Can you confirm that your Plexamp is enabled for Remote Control?

• Settings > Remote Control > Enable Remote Control

For Chrome there was a some what recent change where you were prompted to enable local access. Can you please confirm that your browser has local access?

For the Desktop app, is this issue exclusive to Mac or both Mac and Linux? Mac typically has it’s own OS level set of local access permissions that you’ll need to double check.

hi @Atomatth , it’s “Playback”, not “Settings”, apparently. And yes, remote control is enabled - i run headless player on a linux server and control it with the phone and desktop app:

my Chrome definitely has access to local network. To be clear - i want to cast to a Plexamp player, not the Chromecast - i no longer have a chromecast dongle
