BUG: Deleting the "last" item in a folder in a library, does not delete from Plex

Server Version#: 1.41.5.9522

I have my “TV Shows” library set up in an odd manner. Rather than have a single folder with all my TV shows, I have 27 folders in the library. This is so that I can sort my shows into sub-folders based on letters and numbers.

I had just a single show in my /Shows/Z folder.
It was in the subdirectory as /Shows/Z/Zenshuu (2025)

After a few episodes, I decided I didn’t like the show. So I deleted the show. However, since the /Shows/Z folder was now empty, rescanning the library did not remove Zenshuu from my library. It still showed up in Plex.

I was able to fix this, by recreating the Zenshuu (2025) folder, leaving it empty, then rescanning. Zenshuu was removed and then I was able to delete the folder.

This does however reveal a bug. If a folder in a library is empty, scanning the library will completely skip the folder, but in doing so, will not remove any shows that were previously in that empty folder, leaving ghosts.

It’s not so much a bug but a behavior to protect from accidental deletions.
When a folder is completely empty, Plex considers that drive might just be disconnected and won’t remove the remaining items on scan.

That makes sense. I guess a dummy file in the folder will prevent the issue in the future.
