App & Version:
Plex for Android (Mobile)
Version 2026.7.0 (971050126)
Platform:
Android
Playback Type:
Downloaded / Offline media
Description:
When a downloaded movie finishes playback, it is not marked as fully watched and instead remains at ~99% progress.
This creates a critical issue where the movie cannot be replayed while offline. Attempting to play it again starts at the very end, immediately finishes, and returns to the same stuck state.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Download a movie for offline viewing
- Play the movie fully until it ends
- Return to downloads
- Attempt to replay the movie while still offline
Expected Behavior:
- Movie should be marked as fully watched
- Playback should restart from the beginning (or prompt to do so)
- Content should be replayable while offline
Actual Behavior:
- Movie remains stuck at ~99% progress
- Playback always starts at the final seconds
- Immediately finishes again
- Cannot restart or rewatch while offline
Impact / Severity:
High – breaks core offline functionality
Example scenario:
- User downloads content for travel
- Movie finishes playing (e.g., user falls asleep)
- While still offline, the movie cannot be restarted at all
Workarounds:
There is no viable offline workaround.
The only way to recover is:
- Go back online
- Start playback from the beginning
- Allow watch progress to reset
- Sync metadata
- Return to offline mode
This defeats the purpose of offline downloads and is not practical during travel.
Additional Notes:
- Issue appears specific to downloaded/offline playback
- Online streaming playback does not exhibit this issue
- Likely related to completion threshold or watch-state sync not triggering for offline playback
