I had unwatched episodes of Man in the High Castle set to sync to my phone at 4Mbps, but found that the quality wasn’t great. So I went into the Plex GUI and added it at ‘Original’. Seems I should have edited the existing sync, rather than adding a new one, as I ended up with two Sync jobs, for the same mobile device, but with different quality settings. How is that possible? It literally makes no sense. Surely Plex should detect that you’ve already got that show syncing to the device, and prompt to overwrite the settings?
Also, even when I deleted the duplicate and left the ‘Original’ sync version on its own, and then refreshed the Sync screen on the mobile device, nothing happened. It seems that the app is ignoring the fact that it has a lower-res transcoded version on the device already, and isn’t re-syncing a higher-res (original) version.
